Des-Lab

By now pretty much everyone in the country knows about it. We had an earthquake here in SoCal just before lunchtime. It was centered in Chino Hills, which is a nice hilly town, about 20 miles away from me as the crow flies.
I was on the sixth floor of my office building in Irvine (south Orange County) when it hit. It was a pretty sharp jolt. Rattled some nerves, for sure.
Upon getting home and examining the place, there was quite a bit of clean up to do. Mostly just things like picture frames had fallen over or off the wall, all the wifes lotions and potions, a few glasses came out of the cupboards and broke on the floor.
The Des-Lab system got by unscathed. My Maxell frame displays were all displaced and crooked on the walls. But all were still hanging. A few of the tapes came undone from the velcro straps that hold them to the backing. So I will need to reopen a couple of them and re-attach. Some cassette tapes slid off the shelves and a stack of reel to reel NOS tapes had "slid" and were laying cockeyed inside the closet. Also, a few CD's came off the shelf.
But apart from that, no real damage. The place looked more ransacked than anything. Actual real damages was limited to just a few drinking glasses and picture frames. Under $100 in actual replacement cost. Everything was a simple matter of clean up and putting things back in their place. Even then, it took me under an hour to do it all.
So. Anything exciting happen to any of YOU today?
