I found a pair of BA HD5 consecutive ser.#'s yesterday at thrift $10. Good Buy? Surounds are intact all drivers working and they sound good so far and 10 out of 10 condition of cabinets. I have read mixed reviews so far. What do you guys think? I used them to replace my CM6's with a blown woofer that will cost about $100 + to repair with shipping but I matched them with my A/D/S 15" 300 watt sub woofer driven by a 110 watt Technics dolby logic amp so bass is not a problem

Probably a decent find. BA made some good stuff and some great stuff. If they work well and you like the sound, then it's a great score.

Good find for $10. Decent sounding speakers that will meet your expeactations but are nothing special. BA's are notorious for having bad surrounds. Most smaller models never got re-edged and end up in the dumpster.

I had read about the refoaming with BA speakers but the woofers have a rubberized surround very similiar to my A/D/S bookshelves speakers and have a similiar sound They are in perfect shape. I am using them in my HT system for the fronts and a set of KLH for rear, a Sony Center channel speaker and an A/D/S sub to complete system I know eclectic mix but they all sound good together and the price was right. I got the Technics 6 channel surround amp for free, the KLH's for $5, the Sony for $5, the BA's for $10 and I already had the A/D/S sub so $20 total They make a nice HT sound systyem to go with my 46" REGZA.
Dwight=cheap!

Cheap is good! I can't tell you how many older small BA's I see that have rotten foam. Most are in near mint condition but I know they are destined for the dumpster because few will take the time and expense to re-foam them.
