Here is an interesting article from last summer about a 13 year old giving up his Ipod to use a Walkman for one week. Maybe there is hope for the younger generations. *scratchchin*

LOL! Interesting article! I love my Touch but soundwise it is really bad and inferior to any of my cassette players. But minidisc players are just simply the best. At least imo.

I thought this part was especially humorous. *devil*

It took me three days to figure out that there was another side to the tape.

Yeah LOL it was. I just wonder what kind of a music genre "CrO2" is LOL.

That and why is there Thomas Dolby switch and not one for Nickelback? *scratchchin*

Another notable feature that the iPod has and the Walkman doesn't is "shuffle", where the player selects random tracks to play.

While I don't have an ipod, I have a few digital devices that have this function. I have never used it even while playing a CD that I played a lot of times. I also do not miss this function on my tape decks.

With the plethora of MP3 players available on the market nowadays, each boasting bigger and better features than its predecessor, it is hard to imagine the prospect of purchasing and using a bulky cassette player instead of a digital device.

Except that I am looking for such a device right now (though I prefer the even bigger tape recorders that have their own speakers, like my Uher 4400, except with cassettes)

But minidisc players are just simply the best. At least imo.
While I may buy a MD player some time in the future, I have a lot of cassettes, so I could just grab a few before I go where I expect to use them. I would have to record those MDs first. Also, blank tapes are cheaper (I mean cheap blank tapes, like Maxell UR).

I get the strangest looks. I do still travel with an iPod to listen to podcasts and to plug into any hotel-room systems for background music, but my "serious" flight time music is from a Sony Walkman Pro, and either Shure or Etymotic earbuds.

Excellent conversation piece with seatmates, especially when they see -both- an iPod and an ancient (and huge) cassette walkman come out...
