I'm trying to find a decent JVC receiver that would match up well with my
DD-9

Would have to be very early 80's vintage.

Rob, you're the JVC guru. Anything cool in your stack of brochures I should be keeping an eye out for?

Thks.

I do have a lot of JVC Cassette deck brochures, but not as many of their other audio offerings, let me go look and see what I can find...any idea what year we are looking for/at? They made some nice sounding audio gear,I have a few JVC receivers, one integrated amp,and of course a few of their cassette decks.I always snarf-up any I see in the "wild"!! Rob

Find an RX-S33,55, or 77.
These were very pretty, rather plain units. The 77 has SEA eq. I might have an RX-S55 here somewhere.

I've looked at the RX series, but I think they're a little too late for the DD-9 deck. The DD-9 was produced between 80-82? Most of the RX stuff I've seen is black. There's some RK stuff that may be closer. The J-SRxx1 series is the right vintage, but not overly matchy (SR201, 301, 401, 501).

Still hunting.

Thanks Rob. I'm having a tough time because I'd really like to keep my DD-9, it was basically the top deck JVC made back in the 80's and it's fully functioning, I have the wired remote etc all in great condition, but it just looks weird with non JVC stuff, so I figured the best bet was to locate an integrated or receiver from the same line/era.

Okay . . . JVC AX series. Now that's what I think I'm looking for . . .

So you are looking for a Silver faced JVC receiver? I don't recall exactly what a DD-9 deck looks like.

That's about right Ima. The AX series looks like an integrated amp/receiver series. I haven't found a ton of info but I think that it's going to be as close a match as possible unless there's something I'm really missing here.

If you're curious there's a pic of one on vintage cassette. Essentially it's silver face with silver buttons, some slider controls, that light blue display. I think I posted a pic of mine in the JVC cassette section. There are so many decks from that era by JVC that I can't believe they didn't make some kind of matching receiver. The DD-9 retailed for $900.00 in it's day. I would have thought JVC would have wanted to sell a similar power/control source ????

Thanks for the responses boys . . . still hunting.

You would think they had a matching receiver. When I look through my Orion Blue Book it looks like the JR-S and R-K and R-S series of receivers all overlapped the DD-9's 1981 ans 1982 years of manufacture. *scratchchin*

I only asked since I have a nice RX receiver but it is black faced and newer so it wouldn't match.

Nice looking deck with the vintage JVC right hand cassette well. *Hi5*

I've been looking at the JR series. They come up quite often locally and on the auction site. I found out that JVC made a deck that matched the JR series perfectly. The JR's are so strange looking that I guess they figured they needed to encase a deck in a similar look. I had never seen one before but I found it mentioned while researching the JR's.

Together they actually look pretty cool and I did find a pair for sale, but that would just leave me with more gear and still needing a "matchy" for the DD-9

Aaah life . . . so much equipment so little time . . . and room . . . and money.

Yep and JVC made a ton of different cassette decks.

Web,

do a search for a JVC KD-S201, it's the matching deck for the JR series. I'd never seen one before but I have to admit they look good together. I can't remember where I saw it otherwise I'd post the link . . .

too bad you can't enlarge the picture but it looks funky.

Trust me. RX-S is a champagne silver, not black.

You're right Doc. I've been doing some more research and yes, the RX and RK series are definite ones for me to watch for.

Thanks for the info. *thumbsup*

Something like this? Up until a month ago, it was in the garage. Now it is powering a pair of Infinity Primus 150s in a near field configuration on my wife's desk.

That's some nice gear. A little too silver era for me right now. If I start getting into other decades I'll be in a bigger world of hurt than ever. *drool*

I picked up some JVC brochures for the early 80's line of integrateds and receivers. All I can say is . . . Nakdoc you were right on the money. There is some RX series that would be killer with my KDV6 and pretty close with the DD-9. So shweet . . . . gotta find it, it's only a matter of time . . . .

Nice, nice, very nice. I was going to look at the 301 here locally the other night, but now that I've had a look around I'm gonna pass.

If I could find the matching deck for the Jr series that would be a different story. I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a Hershey bar, like a monkey on a banana, like Gilbert on Sullivan, like tattoos on a biker, like Liberace on sequins, like Tiger on a waitress . . .
