I have been buying some home taped maxell xl-II 90 tapes, figuring that for 33 cents apiece if I use a bulk eraser they should sound good. They date from the early to mid 80's. Along with them were some teac mdX 90 tapes (type II bias) and some pioneer C1 90 tapes. Were these other two comparable in quality? Thanks Norm

Welcome gonzo, I'm new to these types of tapes as well, I just wanted to say *wave* and others in the know should be along to help.

Thanks for the hello. I used to tape records back in the 70's and have been collecting vinyl for years. I have acquired a number of decks and now want to start taping again. Norm

I'm not familiar with the Teac or Pioneer tapes, but the 80's Maxell is a superb tape. I own a box of once-reorded-gently-used XLII's and XLII-S's that I also picked up.
