A friend of mine picked up 4 of these cassettes, still sealed, knowing that I was into audio gear. The only problem is, I have no cassette deck, and haven't for many years.

I tried looking through the Maxell reference post, but didn't see anything that matched. Three of them say, "Made in Japan", and one says "Assembled in Mexico with Japan and U.S. components." Despite the $0.59 price tag, are they worth anything? Are they of a decent enough quality that somebody here would want them?

(Is this post in the right place?)

I just wanted to say Welcome ompid! As to the tapes, I'm not sure, they would be worth more if the sticker wasn't over the Maxell Man to a collector, the sound is pleasant, from what I've heard others here say. They are worth something to somebody. Sorry so vague. Why don't you get back into cassettes with a working deck from CL in your area, stay a while and play with us on tapeheads?? I hadn't played tapes in years and recently got sucked into it, I love it!

Thanks for the welcome.

I've got three sources now, Clearaudio Champion L.2, Arcam CD73, and a Yamaha tuner, for when I'm feeling lazy, or busy in the workshop. I can't really see myself devoting the time to doing a proper job of including another medium, right now.

As for the tapes, I thanked my friend for thinking of me, but it seems the price tag was pretty accurate. I guess I'll just donate these to the Salvation Army. Maybe someone else, who can use them, will pick them up. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Those are recent issue Maxell Type-II tape. They are a good basic high bias tape. They aren't going to wow you or knock your vinyl off the playlist, but they will bring you many years of analog enjoyment.
