Time for me to get righteously indignant, not because I was outbid on this sealed BASF metal tape - no sour grapes here - but for the following reasons;
1) The price, almost £66 to the "winning" bidder ( see Ebay.de for details), perceived value and all that.
2) Rarity - are these particular tapes so hard to find ?
3) Quality - I have one which is good but not great, tends to place undue emphasis on the treble although I'll concede that it might shine in a Revox, Uher, Studer, T+A or Eumig.
4) Never seem to hear of them mentioned in the same regard as high spec. TDK, Maxell or Sony tapes - maybe they've slipped beneath the radar.
Perhaps I'm missing the point, all I can deduce from this is that the silly season is well and truly upon us.
