Hello fellow tapers! Thought I'd post this weeks site bulletin a few hours early today.

By and large, the big story of the week is of course the AK "Massacre". Many fellow TH'ers were directly affected by it and by now most others are aware of it. There is no need to rehash it here, please refer to the "Cheese And Whine" section of this site, down at the bottom of the main page. Everything you need to know is all in there.

It's sad and unfortunate that all of this happened. That the owner of a large and once highly respected website feels the need to stoop to such below-the-belt and immature tactics like that is nothing short of shameful. Whoever heard of being banished from one site ONLY BECAUSE you happen to participate on another. The worst part about all this is that I am the person he evidently has the real issue with. But evidently he is too much of a coward to confront me directly. He doesn't even have the gumps to send me a two-word ("F-You") e-mail (at least as of the time of this message. Of course should that change, I will keep you posted). Instead, he seems to think he can get to me by punishing all of you.

Folks. I don't know what more we possibly could've done. I started this site on my own because 1) I wanted to create a comfortable and open place for tape lovers worldwide to gather and 2) because I can.

Obviously someone seems to have a problem with that.

Of course there is the option to simply "put up and shut up", which apparently if he had his way, we'd all concede to. But none of us are bound to any contract of any kind with him.

I posted my account of the events that happened in the past. I asked some honest-albeit pointed-questions. Offered up an apology. And invited the chance for him to correct me on anything I may have gotten wrong (which I don't believe I did) and voice HIS version of events.

Nothing.

I find it difficult to possibly imagine me having caused him any kind of damages when 1) I merely pointed out things that he himself said, 2) invited him the opportunity to debate and 'clear the air' in the open, and 3) he chose to voluntarily diminish his own membership base for no valid reason.

And now, miraculously, he has his own 'tape' site running. Where he could never be bothered to do it before.

Folks. Let me assure all of you that I would NEVER impose that kind of "either/or" demand on any of you. TapeHeads understands and respects the spirit of the Internet and all of your rights to belong to as many online communities as you want. Of course I would *LIKE* for you to make TapeHeads your "home" page and the one you are most loyal to. But I would never *DEMAND* it of you.

I think that's about all I have to say about that. Again, for further reading, please check out the numerous discussions on the issue inside the "Cheese And Whine" section.

In other TapeHeads.Net news, we have another new addition to the forums as per request. It's called "Mobile Audio". That is the place to discuss anything that is NOT home or studio component related. If you'd like to talk about car systems (tape decks, CD players, subwoofers, speakers, etc.) or "portable" audio (such as Walkmans and Discmans, and Ipods if you dare), that's the place to put it.

As one TH'er said, I don't want to overly fragment the site. The "mobile" section will NOT be further broken down into "car" and "portable" audio. Because then, you are going down the slippery slope. At that point, the car section can be further crumbled into any myriad of categories such as "speakers", "tweeters", "eq's", "tape decks", "CD players", and so forth. And then it could STILL be further broken down by, for example, by brand. And then 'troubleshooting' by brand and equipment type. Like he said. Where would it end? Well. It ends with what you have there. We already HAVE a DIY and troubleshooting board. And except for actual dimensions and construction, I can't imagine mobile components being all that fundamentally different in design than their home based counterparts.

So what you see is what you get there. I'm not going to create so many categories that everything gets lost. Mobile audio is a legitimate section of the audio spectrum that has direct tape related applications that was not previously addresed. That's been rectified. If any of you think of any other tape related subject that can't be fit into one of the existing forums, I'll certainly look at it. But as I said, I'm not going to fracture the site into a hundred different forums.

Anyway folks. I guess that's about it. I can only hope that as time goes on, the sting of being assasinated from AK simply because of your membership here will fade. Yes, I concede that for the time being, we are much smaller and don't have the same amount of information as there. But remember. We are only three MONTHS old. They are over six YEARS. You think they were as big as they are now right out of the box? I doubt it. It took time. And now, yes, some of you will need to "rebuild" here. Many of you are doing all you can. So in time, we will too get to be big and highly informative. We're already well on our way. And all the while, TapeHeads is under MUCH friendlier, mature, and open minded management than that other place. One day, you all might even be wondering why you were there in the first place!

Enjoy your stay here at TapeHeads. Thanks for sticking around. And in the meantime, keep that tape rolling.

I was on the other site and heard from Scorpion8 that he had been banned.

I posted a message of notification and said my good-byes.

In a flash I became the AK version of the 1984 un-person.

I never existed. I joined my old shipmate here, where people are welcome.
