With the exception of their entry-level, 2-channel stereo receiver that sells at places like Best Buy, I thought Sony had forsaken 2-channel receivers forever. Lo and behold, today I found out that this summer they release an ES Series 2-channel receiver.

Now if they would make it with a silver face and a analog dial...we would be happier than hell!!!! Rob

That looks a lot like the 1995 models. The real measure of high end is how much metal went into the construction. Is there proper sized transformer, main filers, and heat sinks to back up the power rating?

Not impressed. Sony has been much better off. Even my Denon POA2400 will beat this sucker to the ground.

From what I've heard, their ES line of gear has always been well built. I'd like to see & hear one up close.

J&R has better pics & I noticed there's no balance control on it! I can't trust a receiver/integrated amplifier that doesn't have a balance control. I just can't.

Sony slapped the "Elevated Standard" label onto some rather ordinary stuff. Sort of a marketing play. The real test is seeing and hearing the model.

Pioneer also plays that game with the Elite logo.

The weight is listed as Weight (Approx.) : 19.8 lbs (9Kg), which seems a little light for the power.

They might need a little more time to get back to speed with hq stereo.

19.8 lbs!! That's all?? My 1995 Sony TA-E90ES preamp weighs more than that.
