I picked up a Sony TA-E90ES preamp this afternoon. This thing weighs a ton. This thing is very close to the mythical mil-spec build quality. There are some pics about halfway through the thread in the link below.

Check out the toroidal transformer.

I finally found the remote code for the TA-E90ES in my Rat Shack 8-in-1 remote control. The only thing I can control is the volume but that is more than enough.

As far as I can tell, there are no tone or balance controls, which is perfect! I don't use these controls and I don't want them in my signal path. Features MM/MC phono amp so the TA-E90ES has everything I want.

I love the look of that line of gear. Classy, elegant and performance that excels. Nice pick-up Sam.

Thanks BB! Sony didn't skimp on this one despite the deletion of tone controls. The case has sheet metal thick enough to be tank armor. OK, not really but the metal is there.

What amp have you got on it?

I tested it on a Yamaha P2150 (170 wpc). It is now driving my MC75's. I'll put the Sony on my L-09M's. That should tell me how good it is.

Here is a pic of the TA-E90ES. Sadly mine is not as minty.
