My buddy in Seattle received this tape for me and I got it finally at my place today. I did a quick scan of it and into the frame display it went!

Now all I'm waiting for is Matt's Vertex tape to show up and that frame will be complete. Here's a pic of it so far. These tapes are what I call "Best of the Best".

I'm really surprised you haven't gotten it yet. That thing went out to you ages ago. Not that it's your fault, but this is exactly why I am so reluctant to ship internationally.

Hope it shows up eventually. Nice frame.

Nice stuff braxus, it's funny how two countries as friendly as ours are too each other (alright, most Canadians hate our politics and call us funny names) -noteeth- most of us didn't vote for him, it was rigged, shang-hied, stolen, etc.... I'm embarassed to be from Texas sometimes. If ya ever drive I-10 or I-20 across that state, you need a good car stereo *devil* truck stop food and BBQ second to none Yes! though. did you get your tape(s) from Des? I had 2 t-shirts and 2 hats (NASCAR of course) get held up at the border customs on the US side for a month, ripped open and repacked, I mean WTF???

No I didn't get Matt's tape yet. It depends how it was packaged. If its in a bubble envelope, it may come quicker. But if it in a box- it can go as long as 6 weeks. I'll let everyone know when I get his tape.

Don't mean to derail your topic.
I have never shipped anything.
I need to send some CD's to a family member.
Are bubble pack envelopes safer than boxes ?

Are bubble pack envelopes safer than boxes ?

Typically not because a box is larger with more packing inside, unless you mean a box that slips over the CD. Then I'd go bubble wrap.

Thanks.
I saw some shipping boxes for CD's and they didn't seem very sturdy.

All I can add is that if you look at the pics in the "Travelin' MA-XG Pic Log" up in Meet and Greet you'll see a well wrapped cassette box inside a padded envelope made it safely to Hungary to close652's office just fine. I think, IMHO, the US is just a wee-bit over-the-top on checking boxes, YMMV, I've sadly lost interest in buying anything from Canada because of the horror stories I've heard. Just gossip probably, still.....

I'm suprised at your comment. I have purchased goods from flea bay from US sellers over a hundred times, and using US Postal, never had any problem. I think it's Canadian Customs that slows things down, not the good ol' US Postal system.

I have also bought stuff online (motorcyle parts, LPs) from stores in the UK, and have received the goods at my doorstep exactly 7 days after ordering....
Ordering stuff from Japan is a bit slower, though...usually takes maybe 3 weeks by Priority Mail.

With the exception of ordering used tape decks (they tend to get damaged!), my luck with US sellers and shipping has been problem-free. Maybe I'm just lucky!

Same with me. Usually it takes 1-2 weeks to reach Europe, but stuwee's stuff arrived here within 7 days.

Since the SA-X is my favorite tape I'm curious - what's the difference between the SA-X and the SA-XG?

The tape itself is the same for both SA-X and SA-XG. The difference is in the cassette shell; the SA-XG has the better shell. It's the same shell as in the MA-XG tape; a metal frame, clear plastic etc.

My understanding is that SA-X is the same tape formulation as SA but it has an additional back-layer, that it is supposed to give the tape better longevity. But this is comparing the older (early 1990's) SA and SA-X tapes; not sure if the more current stock is exactly the same.

There must be more of a difference than the shell and an extra layer. How come the graphs on the packaging show an improvement in the frequency???? I have always preferred MA-X to MA

Is it the shell, tape wear, the way deck winds it etc. Mike
