Here is a link I ran across while browsing the net that TapeHeads may find interesting. It is a picture list of various AKAI Reel to Reel machines and a couple Cassette models as well.

Strange, it doesnt list my reel to reel... the GX-646, which is pretty much the same as the GX-747 minus the digital meters and a couple "bonus" functions...
Nothing listed on this site for that machine either.. any other owners?

There were two versions of the GX-747. The one with digital led meters hadn't got DBX I, but there was a version with analog meters and built-in DBX I:

Very nice site. I've found a couple devoted to Akai reel machgines. Anybody know of any similar Teac, ReVox, Tandberg or Ampex homages?

As posted in the "what's it worth" section, here's what I remember as what my ole man had back in the day. Like I said previously - the drive up to his house to smack him would probably be worth it, for putting it "on the side of the road, so he didn't have to take it to the dump"
Man.... heheh

There was also a version with analog meters but WITHOUT dbx. I believe it was only for the European market.
