Today I got my Fuji DR-I tapes from Total Media. I ordered a total of 60. A lot of tapes, for sure, but one thing puzzles me. They said the minimum order was 20 cassettes & they could only be ordered in increments of 20 tapes. When they arrived, I got 6 10-packs. Not in boxes, either, but the shrink-wrapped 10-packs, reminiscent of the bricks of Fuji & BASF tapes Monty Wards & Best used to sell back in the day. I can understand a minimum order of 20, but why in only increments of 20 if they're in 10-packs? Maybe they have a B&B/Akai-type situation with the number of Fuji DR-I tapes they have & want to get rid of them? I don't know.

I noticed they call the cases slim and rounded.
Are they like the old Memorex cases?
You know the ones I mean, from the late 70's or early 80's?

I find that weird because the London Drugs store here which is the only place I can get a decent selection of blanks, sells the Fuji tapes in boxes. So I don't know whats up with that outlet.

I think it's safe to say you're not in danger of running out of normal bias tapes any time soon, huh?

Yep, I know what you're talking about. No, they just don't have squared corners & are thinner than regular cassette cases. Hopefully, you can see the difference in the pics, a Fuji DR-I cassette & case vs. an Akai SX.

Yes, I think you'd be correct with that statement. Between these 60 Fuji DR-I, the 2+ boxes of Akai SX-90 I already have, plus another 4 boxes of the Akai SX-90 on the way, I think I am well stocked with decent type I tapes for the time being.

I'm just making up for lost time. There are still a few orders I'm waiting for. My latest one: 2 boxes of Emtec Reference Master CSII 60 min. cassettes from Amazon; last 2 boxes the seller had.

It is definitely nice to have parcels arrive a few times a week. :)

The Akai cases are my favorite of any type of tape, I wish all cassette cases were like them.

Those Fuji tapes that get inserted in the case backwards kinda bothers me. I like putting the exposed tape end into the case to protect it. It probably works just fine but I am so used to the convention cases. :-?

My only gripe about the Fuji tapes is that they don't have the normal-size cases.

Sooo, what type I's should I get, I've got some older Fuji DR-1's and Sony HF90's but, I want a box of something like ya'll have, it seems like most of these that ya'll are talking about are NOS. What's the best price on a box of type I 90's?

i was getting tens and tens of those very FUJI DR-Is there five years back, when i was recording those mixtapes for my bio.father. many of the type II DR-IIs as well. always getting them from BI-MART at a good price as they had frequent special sales. i grabbed an entire case once; i believe two 10-packs to a box, maybe four. very good, reliable tapes, those...
