Has anyone ever heard of them? From what I've been able to gather, they were studio-grade cassettes. Has anyone tried them & if so, how are they? There's an auction on Ebay right now for a box of the C-90 for $15.

If Prism tapes were "studio" grade (i.e. best of the best), that's sure the first I've heard of it. I always lumped those tapes in the same category as branded (but junk) tape such as Certron, Lazer, and SKC.

One step above unmarked generic bulk but below the bottom grade majors.

That's kind of what I figured. Besides, for less than the price of that BIN + shipping, I can buy 5 boxes of the Akai SX-90's, which I know are pretty good tapes.

By the way, Des, do you have an opinion on the JVC GI normal bias cassettes? Total Media has them for $6/box.

If you must, here's a better deal: http://www.benderburkotcatalog.com/product_info.php?cPath=294_314&products_id=999993193

Why buy em at Total media for .60 a piece when you can get em on ebay for $7.29 each? :-?:D

Try out a box and then you can let us know how they perform. :)

He ought to change the name of his Ebay store to "RealSteals&Steals"

Well, at least his mark-up on those JVC cassettes is only about 1200%.

I think I will get a box or two from Total Media. If I don't like them, I can always sell them on Ebay for $7.29/each, right?

No doubt. You could under cut the guy and price them at $6.99. :D

Or better yet, sell the box of 10 for $7.29. I'd still come out $1.29 ahead & it would make that RealDeals&Steals guy look like a doofus.

Definitely make the guy look like a doofus.

If you don't like how the JVC cassettes perform then try out some JBC cassettes.

I wonder how many times people bought packs of those years ago assuming they had bought JVC cassettes? It's one of those deals where they only glanced at the label in the store & then realized what they bought when they got home.

Real deal had feedback from a guy who mentioned just that. Here is a quote from the feedback left. They tried making it look like JVC, but accidentaly copied a VHS tape design :)

:rolleyes::rolleyes:
