It's Sunday afternoon and time to briefly fill you all in on what's going on with the site.

First, the "Name Those Tunes" contest was a bust, drawing in only 8 participants within the first twelve hours of it running. Despite a few entries after that, there was still no winner. Oh well. I tried. So once again, those contests have been shelved indefinitely. Maybe at some point down the road after we've grown a lot more, I'll reconsider doing them again. So if you guys want to see them again, please continue to help me along by spreading the word out about TapeHeads. Together, we are doing an outstanding job bringing more and more people in. My goal is of course to make this site the number one tape themed site in Cyberspace. In checking many of the other larger sites, I am seeing a very noticable decline in the amount of tape related activity. That's no doubt at least in part to us all congregating here.

Next, as per request, an "other" tape forum has been created. This is the place to discuss other tape formats such as 8-track, Elcassette (if anyone even still HAS one), micro/mini cassette, and just about any other tape based format you can think of. Have fun with it.

And finally, a "new" logo has been put on the top of the page. The intent here was to make it less intrusive when browing the various pages. It's also a lot less cluttered and 'busy' than the previous one was. The contest is still open for anyone who wishes to design a permanent logo/banner. If I choose your creation, I'll be sure to hook you up with a free tape from my stash. There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit. But between the first logo and the one now in place, you should have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for: simple yet elegant and portrays what the site is about. I also like the vibrant contrasting colors on the dark background. That is a suggestion but not a requirement. So feel free to continue your artistic talents. Lord knows I don't have much of that.

I guess that's about it for now. It's been a busy week and weekend for me. So sadly, I haven't had the chance to spin any tape or even do much listening. Maybe next weekend.

Thank you again.

I wouldn't call the "Name That Tune" contest a bust, just too difficult. I'm not a big YouTuber, so when I saw all those things I had to go listen too, I just passed. And then I wasn't sure about participating, since if everyone had to post their answers, and I didn't know the first two I listened to right away, why not just wait until many answers were posted to the ones I didn't know? I guess I had an issue with giving all my answers to everyone else.

I don't think it was a bust either. It didn't draw as many posters as you would have liked, but it was fun for those of us who participated. I am guessing you also enjoyed making the videos, listening to the music and posting them.

Not to be redundant... I feel it wasn't a bust either. Maybe, as a feeler and a teaser (because of your generosity*hypnot*) you can do something like a two or three song contest for a single prize. Maybe just surprise the board on a Friday night or when your stats tell you that you historically have a good number of folks lurking. My *twocents*

I know a helluva lot of work went into the making of the Contest, and alot of us pushed, begged and pleaded, we didn't have to do anything but fall flat on our collective *butt*, we don't deserve a surprise anything. I can only hang my head in shame, I talked the talk, and couldn't walk the walk. *fm*

I blame it on the cat!

I also don't think it was a bust - we were only a few.
Thanks for the work of organising that for us.

I had fun trying. I don't think it was too difficult. There was a good mixture of super easy and a few head scratchers.

Well I'm glad that those of you who participated did enjoy it. As you noted, those things are a LOT of work to put together. I also like the idea of posting random, unannouced 'mini' contests with a few songs and smaller prizes. Maybe one of these days I'll try it out. Of course the time limit on them will also be shorter.

No worries. We understand. I guess it was just a case of a great idea, but not quite the right time yet.

Hope all gets better with whatever is burdening you personally right now.
