View Full Version : Has anyone changed belts themselves on Nak RX-202?
Hi: I have my Nak RX-202 disassembled waiting for an idler tire to come,so I was wondering if anyone has changed the other two belts (capstan drive and cam belt for "flip"mechanism) and willing to share how to do it! I read somewhere what is involved in changing the idler tire, but found out after doing it, that way more was needed to come apart to gain access! Anything special to watch for?! Not ONE thing in the service manual about r+r belts or tire! Thanks, Huck

Go here: http://peromarta.org/naks/cr7_idler_tyre.html This procedure is pretty much applicable to all idler drive Naks. Belt? You just gotta disassemble as little as posisble to get to them.

Here's another procedure for the idler. http://www.eslabs.com/idler_2.htm. I'll see what I can find regarding belts.

Thanks! I just had my Nak 202 deck all apart, removing and replacing the cam drive belt. I am using my "spare" parts unit to practice on! I removed and installed the cam drive belt, just to see if I could do it. Everything worked when I put it back together!. The cam belt on this spare Nak was pretty good shape, but the "flip" mechanism was a little slow, even the idler tire was good shape, maybe a little dry?. This Nak took about 2 1/2 minutes to rewind a 60 minute tape, whereas it supposed to take 85 seconds, according to the service manual!! My other(good) Nak RX-202 takes 75 seconds to rewind/ff a 60 minute tape. I have belts and tires coming, so maybe I will try R+R the capstan drive belt next! Later, Huck
