Gee. that first pic looks familiar!
How is that Pioneer changer? Does it work well? I remember when it came out & thought it was pretty cool. I remember Sony had a 5-cassette carosel system in the early-90's as well.

Here's a scan from a Panasonic brochure for that changer, the RS-296US.I actually found one of those in a thrift a long time ago,It didn't work, and I didn't know how to fix them back then, wish I could find one now, sure would give it a crack and get it up and running, the thing weighed a TON!! Also here's a scan of the Pioneer line of 6-cassette changers.Once again I had one of these too, don't have it now...wish I did,BUT...I do have the Sony 5-cassette changer, the TC-C521,and I included a photo of that one!! You're in luck regarding that Panasonic:

Someone on AK is debating whether they should buy one or not.

I had two of the Pioneer 6 cassette changers and one of the Sony 5 cassette carousels in the early 2000's sadly I sold them all when I was getting out of cassettes. *fit*

I can honestly say that the above model was the workhorse in a gym I used to train at some years ago - it worked all day long (sometime given a rest in favour of the radio) for all the time I was there -which was over 3 years. Of course, it quite likely carried on long after I left. I always thought its mechanical complexity would be its undoing, but it just soldiered on - and actually always sounded crisp, clean and steady.

Hey, it ain't like the rest of us don't have workbench congestion a la' max. I've got stuff stacked everywhere, but for the right piece I'd find room. Kinda like NAD's tape storage spot .... you think he can't cram a few more boxes of Akai in there? :D

wow!! here's an unusual example of the PIONEER CT-M6R with a transparent cassette rack and top panel window with diagram! apparently PIONEER made a special run of these for store demos or something. PIONEER must have been mighty proud of this particular invention...

now, what i can't understand is why they went through all that trouble and didn't even include the standard PIONEER large chrome isolators (feet)!!!!

Had an ex in college with a cassette changer, part of an all-in-one unit (sadly, I can't seem to find an image of it online) with a tuner, a CD player and a stand-alone cassette well built-in, if I remember rightly. Can't recall the brand name either, but something like Panasonic...it wasn't a company that would've been mistaken for audiophile goods, but wasn't Soundesign, either. :)
Not the most reliable playback template, made worse by her tendency to load it with cassettes all by the same act. Booty call + sleep to over six hours of Prince, or over eight hours of the Cure? No, thanks. (Not knocking fans, I simply mean that having to listen to that much of ANYBODY could drive you crazy...and in the case of the Cure, the Standing on the Beach collection and the remix album were two of the tapes, which meant I was often hearing the same song repeated, and variations, too, within that eight hours. "Never Enough"...indeed.)

Found one at a yard sale. I was going to pass but then they dropped the price. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me that there should've been a remote. Very clean. Operates flawlessly and sounds fine.
