Thanks for the great tapes, Scorpion8! I think this series is from around 1991 or so. They were my favorite!

You gonna record on them? I would! *Hi5* Just frame the pics and use them!

Absolutely! I'm not putting plastic covers on this leather sofa!

Always nice to see something being used for what it was intended for.
Those were/are my favorite tape.
Enjoy.*Spin**Spin*

Glad and happy to see they were adopted in a good home.

I too am glad that they received a good home. As for using vs hoarding them, that of course is entirely up to you. But my suggestion would be out of the ten tapes, set 8 or 9 of them aside for actual use and recording. And keep just one or two sealed copies for "collectible" purposes. Trust me. You will always want to have at least one sealed one around for posterity.

That's great! In the last month of watching ebay I've only managed to score ONE of the good XLII-S tapes. So I'm patiently waiting...

I'm just curious, I found amongst my new found hoard, a Maxell II 90 with the Maxell man getting blown away in the chair silkscreened on the right side of the tape. What series is it from? Is it the same NAD got from Scorpion8? I know those are the S ones but, do they have the Maxell Man ? I don't remember seeing him on any other tape series.

exactly. use all but two; one sealed, and one open but otherwise untouched. i had 4/5 of those very tapes that i inherited from my bio. father when he gave me his system seven years ago. ALL WERE SEALED. i kick myself for not having the foresight to do exactly what i am recommending here. i'd love to get two sealed one of these days and make up for my past stupidity...

It sounds like you have the new Maxell XLII tapes, which I have found inferior to previous generations of Maxell. The Maxell XLII-S were the TOTL type II tape Maxell made.

Ok, thanks, I just didn't remember the dude, it's not sealed, still unrecorded,so.... when I get recording soon, I'll try it and others from the hoard out, like the yummy MA-R90's with the bright green record block tabs, I'll leave the stickers off, I prefer slips of paper anyway, now that I've read the thread on that subject.

Just noticed you changed your avatar, nice tribute!! :)
