A friend of mine who lives in Poland bought a Nak dragon here in the USA, and wants me to ship it to him. I am happy to do so, he has helped me numerous times! Problem is, the Post Office won't mail the box to Poland cause it is too big ( it isn't that big ), and UPS wants 1100!!!! to ship it. I am going to try to repack in a smaller box, but am worried it might compromise the safety of the deck. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, dr.bo

HI Joel, I want to help here but I do not have any experience shipping this kind of item, the only advice I can give is if have you check with FedEx or is the same as UPS?.
Regards Felix.

Try these guys, http://www.dbschenkerusa.com/. They used to be known as BAX Global and were one of the air freight companies that a company I used to work at used all the time. Very reliable and IIRC very competitively priced.

Use a good tight wrapping of fresh large bubble bubble wrap around the unit. Make that more than one wrap around the Dragon. Make sure that it is taped securely and make sure that it fits snug in the box. This works for me when I ship stuff. I never use UPS for shipping valuable stuff as they have no regard for what is fragile and they cover their asses with what they overcharge and make it almost impossible to recover insured items.

DON'T scimp on packing. Especially on such a complex deck like this one. I currently have problems on 2 dual decks (one shipped via UPS the other via FedEx) I had shipped to me & I feel it was due to shipping. The azimuth is off on both decks. Just happens one of the wells the azmiuth is ok in the reverse direction. The second deck in addition to the azmiuth being off some of the controll buttons are pushed in & the top of the case is bent. All due to poor packing. And these decks are no where as complex as the Dragon.
I was tought to have at least 4" of packing between all sides of the item being shipped & the box walls. Use lots of bubble wrap & newspaper.

That's the way it is packed now, but that results in a box that is too big for the post office. So I think I have to "double bubble" as I used to say, and then maybe hard styrofoam around that. I would prefer more, but if I can't mail it?? Thanks Joel

Another option is the spray in expanding foam insualtion like Great Stuf. But you can get it in a liquid I think is a 2 part mix in like quart paint cans instead of a spray can like Great Stuf and can be gotten at places like Lowes. I got an amp shiped to me like that. The amp was wraped in a plastic bag so the stuff wouldn't get stuck to it. And if you want to make a top & bottom just use an empty bag to put the liquid mix in till it hardens around the unit.*Hi5*

i'll second the use of multi wrapped large bubble wrap.
for the shipping of my recent purchase of 3 tascam decks, they were all packed in triple wrapped large bubble wrap, each in a single h'duty box.
they didn't get even a scratch.
'course, that's why i paid ~$80 total for shipping.

Another thought is do you know someone flying to Poland or Europe that could maybe take it with them on the flight? The downside would be no shipping insurance.

No, I don't know anyone who is travelling there. My friend hooked me up with a service ; I can mail to a site in Chicago or NYC and then this company can ship to Poland. I am in the process of checking prices for this. Joel

Did you get it shipped? If you did, how did you ship it, who did you ship it with & how much did it cost?
