This is a DVD of Jeff Beck playing some great blues. The drummer is the the drummer from Frank Zappa. The bassist you Aussies will love this a 22 yr. old GIRL from AU and she can play. These guys were jammin and having fun doing it.
Jeff Beck is a legend to me. The man can get everything out of a guitar and more. He was playing blues like no one else can. You might say Eric Clapton but there is no way. You have to buy this DVD for 9.00.

That was one of the first Blue Ray discs I bought.
It is amazing in hi def.
One of the best releases of the year .
The Blu Ray also has an extra set of RockaBilly songs on it.
I was introduced to Tal on the Crossroads concert DVD.
That gal is going places.

Yea, I can't believe it came out in 2008(?) and I did not find it till late 2009, and I keep an eye on Amazon with their great prices and good services so I was dying to get it. And that was an amazing performance, every song that he does is not just better but perfected even more. I don’t see many musicians do it that well after the years pass on, too often like Steely Dan, they got to change it too much, to make it different (and they are tired of playing the same yet again, I can understand that), but we all remember the song the way it was ingrained in our brain with great memories associated with it. A few tweaks of a song is ok but if you got to change it, do it like Jeff does, somehow keeping the original song intact while adding even better flair, polish and I don’t know what else, that’s what impresses me so much!
I just had to tape this DVD so I could hear it easier, but now scored the digital for the car CD player. Liked his interview too, nice to see he is no longer that much of a recluse, and with this DVD, will leave a wonderful tribute to his life’s work, nice!!

A guy at work loaned me this dvd. Great music (and a cute bass player to boot). She looked like she was having the time of her life playing in his band. The only bummer was the regular dvd did not have the rockabilly session on it. That had to have been amazing to have been in the audience that night.

Yea, lady can just lay back and play that bass so well and with little effort, it just pours naturally out of her soul (22 years old during that gig, damn!), it's mesmerizing to watch, even JB after her solo was like *eyepop*. Her CD on Amazon is big bucks for some reason *hypnot* , good reviews on it though.
Did you check out the extras folder, saying that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, along with Brian May and Jon Bon Jovi where in the audience some night(s)? Double cool to have been there on of those nights like you said.
It is a must see I am telling all my buds, not a disappointed one in the bunch yet *check*

I'm recording it on my K 960. I haven't recorded on it since I got it back from Nacdoc. I'm using the Phoenix metal in the old shell to see if I can get it to mess up. See how it sounds and I did find the focus button on the 960. It says sharp and soft.

Tal Wilkenfeld - bass (who has her own CD out, as well)
She can also be seen on the 2nd Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD playing with Beck. I've always liked Beck; but, seeing up close how he does what he does is jaw dropping. As a 27 year veteran of the guitar I can testify that what Jeff Beck does with an axe is pretty ridiculous; a true visionary and musical talent. I highly recommend his entire catalog (including the Jeff Beck Group w/Rod Stewart and his work with Jan Hammer, Stanley Clarke, etc.) to anyone. This isn't useless shredding. This is a study on excruciatingly beautiful melodies, unrestrained energy and technique from Pluto. It's a good work out for your gear, too.
Jimmy Page can be clearly seen in the audience at one point on the Ronnie Scott footage.
Great pick!! *Hi5*

Much as I love Jeff Beck, Jeez thats a big call. Where does that leave the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan

Yeah, this concert was a real treat when I saw in on Palladia. The drummer is Vinny Coliuta. One of many world class drummers that has played with Zappa over the years.
Beck is great, but on his fusion tunes the harmonic content of his solos is a little run of the mill.
I don't know, this whole "Hendrix/Beck/Clapton/Vaughn" thing about being the greatest guitarists ever is a little over exaggerated for me. I think there are so many better players than those guys.

Joe Walsh could kick their butts and serve dinner.
Eric Johnson is pretty excellent as well.
Brian May
Les Paul
Dick Dale
George Harrison
The lead guitarist of the Scorpions I'd have to look up...Oh yeah, Matthias AND Jabs, can't really split them.
Steve Miller
Tom Petty and Mike Campbell

Matthias Jabs is one guy. Rudolph Schenker is the rhythm player who has been with the group since day one. Jabs is decent, but I always preferred to two guys who came before him. Michael Schenker (Rudolph's brother) and Ulrich Roth. In fact Ulrich Roth is one of my favorite players, ever.
But here's a list of guitarists in many genries, that most people have never heard of, who are true world class talents:
John McLaughlin
Christopher Parkening
Steve Morse
Tommy Emmanuel
Allan Holdsworth
Guthrie Govan
Danny Gatton

Got a couple of John McLaughlin albums - one solo, 'Devotion' and another with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, 'Birds of Fire'. The MO album is an SQ quad pressing IIRC. Hard to believe than Allan Holdsworth plays on a Level 42 album too - 'Guaranteed' which I also have.
Can we add Al di Meola, Paco de Lucia, Larry Coryell and Lee Ritenour to your list?

Yeah, except for Al. I don't think he's much of a writer. Lots of technique, and hasn't written a note of music that I think is interesting.

I've got an album of his too but....
I can't recall what it's called...
Poor Al. LOL

I have almost all of Holdsworth's albums and almost all of Mclaughlin's and all of Jeff Beck's too.
Beck's work on "guitar shop" album is stunning!!!
Also his albums are more easy to entertain through any time of day, while with Mc Laughlin and more so Holdsworth, you have to really be in the mood and need a certain concentration, not really for everyone.
Besides the Mahavisnu albums a great McLaughlin record is with the trio "Live at the Royal Festival,November 27 1989".
From Holdsworth i like the "metal fatigue" and "sand" albums along with the recordings he did with Soft Machine and Gong.

I'd agree with that about McLaughlin and also Al di Meola - especially the latter.

Unless you show him on TV, usually with Johnny Winter, I would have to doubt a lot of people could recognize Rick Derringer these days unless you cheat and play Rock And Roll Hoochie Koo. The two together were dynamite!
