WTF is up with our weather here in SoCal this year? It's Memorial Day weekend, where we are normally out by the pool and standing over a hot barbecue grill. This year, it's gray and overcast. And I'm inside because it's about 60 degrees outside. It feels like January. And it blows.

So while I sip on a cup of coffee....and working on my site, I have the tunes going. Here's the playlist.

Deck: Teac X-2000R
Tape: Maxell UD 35-180
Speed: 7 1/2 ips

Tape is a compilation made back in 1998. I had given up on most so-called "Mainstream Singles" since about 1989. But 1998 was and is the exception. Quite a few decent 'singles' came out that year. Of course, the mix is still punctuated with some of my eclectic tastes.

SIDE 1:

1. The Tuesdays "It's Up To You"
2. Lorenna McKennett "The Mummers Dance"
3. Madonna "Ray Of Light"
4. Shania Twain "You're Still The One"
5. Ace Of Base: "Cruel Summer"
6. Soul Asylum "Runaway Train"
7. The Spice Girls "Stop"
8. Sarah McLaughlin "Witness"
9. Madonna "Frozen"
10. The Verve "Bitter Sweet Symphony"
11. Q-Kumba Zoo "Flesh And Blood"
12. Garbage "Temptation Waits"
13. The Dylans "Grudge"
14. Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On"
15. Jimmy Ray "Are You Jimmy Ray"
16. Blessid Union Of Souls "There's A Light"
17. Modern English "I Melt With You ('98 remix)
18. Chumbawumba "Amnesia"
19. The Bee-Gees "One"
20. DJ Company "Rhythm Of Love"
21. Sarah McLaughlin "Sweet Surrender"
22. Sophie Hawkins "Right Beside You"

SIDE 2:

1. The Church "Metropolis"
2. Robert Miles "Children"
3. The Offspring "Why Don't You Get A Job"
4. The Spice Girls "Goodbye"
5. Jennifer Paige "Crush"
6. Sophie Hawkins "As I lay Me Down"
7. Robert Miles "Fable"
8. Hole "Awful"
9. Natalie Merchant "Life Is Sweet"
10. 98 Degrees "Because Of You"
11. Madonna "Beautiful Stranger"
12. The Vengaboys "We Like To Party"
13. Mulberry Lane "Helpless"
14. Sophie Hawkins "True Romance"
15. Sheryl Crow "It Don't Hurt"
16. Lionrock "Scatter And Swing"
17. Missing Persons "Destination Unknown"
18. Sophie Hawkins "The Ballad Of Sleeping Beauty"
19. Roxette "Dangerous"
20. Alanis Morissette "Thank You"
21. Shania Twain "That Don't Impress Me"
22. Sarah Brightman "Deliver Me"

I was out doing a nice 40 mile bike ride w/ friends but afterwards I had some Madame Butterfly , Kraftwerk ( the Man Machine), Oningo Boingo and some Phil Collins playing.

The butterfly was on a reel of BASF LPR35 and recorded in the 70's, too bad it was 3ips

It was chilly in the morn but headed up to about 73 by 2pm

Oh that's right. You folks south of the equator are inverted to us northerners. I always thought that Christmas being in the dead of summer would be a bit strange.

It's not that I mind 60 degree days. I enjoy the four seasons as much as the next person. It's just odd that here at what is normally the start of summer it still feels like the dead of winter.
