Not in the best of shape but heck wasn't going to just let it sit there and rot more. Who knows it might just light up the tubes when I wire in a cord. Its a Philco and no pictures yet, but here is a link to an identical set. It is very cool looking and difinately a retro piece. If I can't get it going then it will sit in the basement in out of the weather. BTW I could only wish mine looked as good as the picture I posted.

Crazy *no*, could be, I do often wander back roads, looking into fields seeking 8 track players and tapes. We really were delivering a mobile home to a guy that scraps them out for the wood and steel, the guy also goes to flea markets and auctions and picked it up with a load he bought. I saw it over in the field and went over to check it out, nosy person I am. Didn't really even know what it was. Anyhow already have had some suggestions on that antique radio forum where I might get the tonearm. This might be a fun little project, if the tubes fire up. I need to replace the radio tuner string and do a major clean up before doing anything real costly to it.

Heres some pictures of the player I found. Hooked a plug to it, reseated the tubes and plugged it in. Turntable tries to move, good clean up and greasing is in order. Fired up radio, swear I heard FDR giving a speech. Little exaggeration there. What I'm saying is it works!!!!!! I will have to redo the tuner cable as it has been broken. Will be a neat piece of furniture if nothing else in my area, not the wifes. Fun part will be finding the tone arm. I already have some leads on the arm. Heres hoping one is sitting on a shelf collecting dust and that I can buy it for a small amount.

So some of you have heard about our *#@! fields that the Army had here??????

Hi Larry,

If you locate a tonearm and cartridge, I may be able to help you with a replacement new stylus. The mini flea market, here in Squamish, has a large collection of stylii for old cartridges. When the electronics repair shop closed down about 3-4 years ago, all their old stock was given to the flea market.
