I love hosting contests. I like doing the 'Name those tunes' contests. But I will not do one of these until we either A) reach 100 members, OR B) average 50 posts a day for ten straight days. So again. Get the word out. Let's round up all the tapeheads!

But I'd like to take this opportunity to post a one-time different contest:

Win A Tape by redesigning a new TapeHeads logo!

See the picture at the top of the page, with all the reels, decks, and stuff, with the "TapeHeads.Net" text in graduated red? I did that myself.

Well...it's OK. But artistic expression through visuals was never one of my strong points. But surely one of you is. And can design for us a really neat logo. Not only will your work get pride of place at the front of the page for all to see, but you will also get a free tape as well! Just like we did over on The Dark Side.

There is no time limit on this contest; it will be open until I decide to close it. Nor is there a limit to the number of entries you may make.

So let's see what some of you can put together. Make a good logo that captures the essence and spirit of this site. Entries may either be posted as an attachment in a reply to this message. Or you can e-mail them directly.

Good luck

Heres a shot at 2 of them. Images are public domain and were used to make the logos for the Site. If any of these are your work feel free to let me know and they will be removed.

TeacGuy, those look good.

I am not good at these type of contests. But I made an interesting tape. ;)

Thanks Web Police :) I use to make a few images here and there and they can be tougher than an old stuck pinch roller lol :D

I like the very first one. Except for all of the 1's and 0's. Hey man, that's all DIGITAL. Is that deck an X-86 or something? That don't count! This is an ANALOG site (though nothing wrong with using digital sources). At least that's how I interpreted it. :p

Seriously though. I like it. If you can present a version of that minus the digital inferences, I'd strongly consider it.

The 2" headstack is nice. But [newbie] visitors to the site might not get it. They either won't know what it IS. Or else get the impression that this is a "professional" recording site. Which it isn't. Our bread-and-butter user here uses a combination of standard stereo cassette and/or quarter track stereo reel, perhaps with some semi 'pro' thrown in. Perhaps 8-track cartridge or vintage cassette or 3 3/4 reel would be the 'low' end, and 1/4" half track 15 ips the high end (maybe a little 1/2" tape, but I doubt it) home studio/hobbyist recording.

The Maxell UD is cute. But doesn't really capture the whole essence of the site.

I'm sorry, but I wished I remembered who did it. When the prototype version of TapeHeads was up, someone had created a "proud member" image using a Teac X-2000R.

I LOVED that. I wouldn't mind seeing it prominently displayed here.

Anyone else want to give it a try?

A new logo has been designed and accepted. Artist has been notified and pending final exchange and his agreement to me assuming full ownership of said logo, contest is closed.
