I didn't know where to post this, but my 8-track deck is back!!! The mail lady just dropped it off. I hooked it up to the bedroom system featuring a Denon AVR-1907 receiver and Boston Acoustic 6.1 surround system. 8-track with a modern twist. I'm going to fire it up here in a minute just as soon as Uncle Ted gets done rocking the living room. I think that receiver in the living room could use a rest anyway. It's really been rocking out. Check "What's Playing Today?" and you'll see what I mean.

Where I grew up in northwest Ohio (about 2 hours south of Detroit) a lot of the d.j.s referred to Ted Nugent as Uncle Ted. Well anyways, I'm 4 tapes into 8-Track mania and I've got to say I'm fairly surprised how good they sound. I mean Stereophile magazine isn't going to give it any awards, but it still sounds a hell of a lot better than I expected. I was really surprised at the amount of high end (especially on a late 80's record club only tape). Sure there is a ton of tape hiss but it's not too noticeable while I'm in the kitchen cleaning while it's cranked up in the bedroom. It's worth it just for the novelty value alone. Check what's playing for the play by play.

*check* on Uncle Ted, he's scary *devil* I saw him live many times at Texas Jams in the 70's, his reality show was a trip! Is it true that he never touched alcohol or drugs, or is that an old urban ledgend?? Nice to have nostalgia to play with, and dig it as well *Hi5*

Bootie scootin' with "the Nuge"

As far as Ted goes, I've only seen him once. It was at the Toledo Sports Arena in 1990 for one of his Whiplash Bash concerts. Pat Travers opened up. Derek St. Holmes was the surprise guest and he played with Ted the whole show. It was the longest bathroom lines I've ever seen. As far as Ted's chemical intake goes, he is highly anti-drug and a light drinker. I saw him on that VH1 reality show "Super Group" having a glass of wine with his meal. That really surprised me because I thought he was a tea-totaller.

He was against abusing the substances.
Their is nothing wrong with alcoholic drinks, its how they are abused.
My son bought me tickets to see Terrible Ted this month.*Hi5*

I have an Allied 1188 player/recorder. It has the plywood cabinet. The guy who did the work on it said it was an early Radio Shack brand. He said it was made somewhere between "70-"75. It has vu meters on the left side. It's also got continuous play, track repeat and auto shutoff. I'd take pictures but I don't own a camera let alone a digital one. Whenever I take pictures I buy a disposable one. Sorry.

I saw Nugent in my home town of Glasgow on his UK tour, roundabout Cat Scratch/Free For All time.

Used to listen to "Tooth, Fang And Claw and Ted Nugent" a fair bit back then.

On stage during an extended jam, "Great White Buffalo" he'd do this feedback thing culminating in a glass bowl being shattered as it sat atop his amp - later we found out that he had a roadie placed back there, with a hammer, in case the bowl didn't break!

Call Of The Wild and Tooth, Fang And Claw were repackaged as a double album and are worth checking out.

When I saw Nugent he was shooting a stuffed deer off the drum riser with a bow + arrow. Yeah, those are both very good albums. I have always liked "Call Of The Wild" a lot. They were both reissued in the early nineties by Enigma records. Those reissues are hard to find. Fairly plentiful on used vinyl. My other favorites of his are "Ted Nugent", Free For All", and "Scream Dream". "Scream Dream" is the ultimate album to cheese off the neighbors. Years ago I lived in a house divided into two apartments. I was upstairs. The downstairs neighbors must have owned one cassette, Black Sabbath's "We Sold Our Soul For Rock And Roll", and they cranked it up every day over and over for a least 6 months. I worked nights. So at about 5:00 am I was painting my living room listening to The Rolling Stones "Through The Past Darkly" when the cops showed up on a noise complaint. So the next night after work, after a lot of thought I chose "Scream Dream" at full volume to pay them back (I know, it was juvenile, but I was young). The cops were there in less than 10 minutes. "Wango Tango" wasn't even over yet. Man, I was glad when they finally moved.

The roadie with the hammer is some funny s**t, in one of Unca Teddy's rare delicate moments I witnessed, he was in the middle of a hair swingin' 'round and 'round jam and apparently a big lock of it got in his eye.

He took a ever-so feminine flick at it with his pick hand, looked at all of us shrugged, gave the Killer Teddy smile, started right back up!jam!

No, I wasn't high, it was Texas in the summer, too damn hot!! *devil* I loves me some Nuge, laws yes!!

It took me 2+ years to learn how to post pics. If you take your disposable to Walgreens you can get a set of prints and a digital disk to load and file in the 'puter, then we can talk ya through the rest. I/we wanna see the 8-Track*reelspin**reelspin**hypnot*
