I know I've read about this somewhere, but can't remember what exactly this button does....its labeled "line straight"??What does it do exactly for the sound quality of a amp or receiver that has this button? Rob

It usually by-passes all the circuits except the volume and balance pots, or straight wire from your input to your outputs, my Yamaha pre has it, my SAE pre was designed around the idea from the start. I can hear a difference on most sources. Play some well known song sit in the sweet spot. then turn the switch off, listen again, do you hear any difference?? Do that in reverse as well, play another song with it off, then play it again with it on. Anything??
Trust your ears, always.

Sure Rob, just let every one know what it is and how it sounds each way. ( I like did/done, I'm gonna borrow that in descriptions):D

my PIONEER VSX-D1S has a direct button, the top of those two white ones on the left there, the one that's lit up...
