Dug my 1980 Suzuki GS-850 out of storage a while ago.
Needed some parts, ordered them from the dealer.
Finally came in.
Charged the battery, wouldn't hold a charge.
Bought a new battery, put on charger.
Finally find impact driver.
Tried to remove old parts, won't budge.
Drench with PB Blaster.
Time for beer.
Hope your weekend went better.

I hear ya!
I have my '87 Suzuki Intruder in the garage and it needs a few things to be 100%
-fork seals
-choke cable
-some kind of fuel issue (filter, carb sync, clogged jets...)
I hope to get to it sooner or later

Hey Rat44,
That's a shaftie, right? I think it worth the nurturing and the beer intermissions!! You can go through more industrial penetrator than anything else at these times. I get pre-read Classic Motorcycle mags from my brother - its amazing what these guys can do with a refurbishment job - better than new most times.

Yes,it is a shaftie.
The GS bikes are good all around bikes.
Got around the screw issue.Loosened them with a Vise Grip.
Replaced them with allen head bolts.

Jezz thats a blast from past. I had a GS-1000 back in the 80's. great bike built like a tank but it weighed like as much as a small car. Brings back a few memories. I rode this bugger all over Aus, have a look it is not a small place. Used it as a rather inappropriate trail bike motor crosser (sort of) in outback Queensland. And left it there (sold) when I left. Now have a RC51 and a VFR750 1990 (wife don't like the seat on the fast one so I chucked away the rear pegs and the seat)
Cheers

What you guys were saying about restoration of old bikes. I gave my old GPZ1100 to a good mate of mine. It was in very poor condition cosmetically but still had a good motor. Here is what he did with it Drooooooooool.

Any bike with the right tires is a dirt bike.
I had a 82'KZ 440 that did okay on dirt roads.
But yes, the GS is kinda' heavy for it's displacement.
But next to the Gold Wings one of the few 'just ride' bikes.

Yeah I loved my GS1000G, the most comfortable touring bike ever built that would still run over 200kph easily.

Nice GPZ.
)dance(I Had one of those!
Couldn't decide between the Katana or that one.
Buddy bought the Katana, we traded bikes often.
They both were scary fast.
Had to get rid of it ,I couldn't get affordable insurance.
Traded it for a GPZ 550.

Its getting closer to the road.
Sat long enough I decided to tackle some small problems before they get bigger.
It should be running again this weekend.
Funny you should mention Blue Hairs, the closest I've come to an accident involved a little ole lady.
Was behind said person when the light turned yellow, saw the rear of the car squat down, puff of smoke as she sped up then she slammed on the brakes.
Did I mention that at the same time I dropped a gear, grabbed throttle and the front came up?
Don't try this at home kiddies.
Panic stops are very well impossible with the front wheel off the ground.
I got lucky and wound up next to her.
