I was shopping for vinyl today and picked up, yes another "Murder City Devils" album and Bowie's "Diamond Dogs".

I had DD on commercially produced tape but it died awhile ago and so I hadn't listened to the album in it's entirety for some time.

I ran it through the Nitty Gritty and put it on. What a great album. I especially like track 3 on side 2, "1984". It's comprised of a backbeat that sounds like it came from the movie "Shaft" (the original), and the melody reminds me of the musical "Hair". Strange combo, I know, but somehow it works.

Bowie is one of those guys whose every album, the earlier ones anyways, is a rock opera and I love it.

Yeah, good album.

(I think all his best work was in the 70's). *jammin*

i strongly agree! *bigthumbup*

Diamond Dogs is perhaps my Bowie's favourite album... i have 2 different releases on vinyl LP (one is the EMI 1991 "sound+vision" release with bonus tracks and the other is a RCA pressed in 1981 with green labels) and 1 pre-recorded cassette (EMI release with bonus tracks again)...

i love any song in this incredible album... and especially the short intro "Future Legends" , "Sweet Thing" and "We are the dead"... in other words the most "dark sounding" ones in the album... ehheeh *devil*
