I'm pretty sure I'm sold. Just need to settle on a player and where to get.

While I think it's great that vinyl is makeing a comeback I've noticed that a lot of the Johnny-come-latelys tend to buy up a lot of scratched up crap at thrift stores and think they're really on to something. A local record store I visit regularly has a couple younger guys buying the used vinyl. A while back I happened to see a beat top death copy of Muddy Waters - "Sings The Real Folk Blues" for $49.99. It had a post a note on it saying it was an original pressing. I gave it a quick glance and saw it had the 1970's era orange and blue label and the back cover had a 1978 copyright on it. I pulled the guy aside and gently let him know about the error. He swore that thats what the price guide said it was worth. The next week I came back with my price guide and showed him what I was talking about. He was cool about it and thanked me for my help. It is now marked down to $3.99 (still overpriced for it's condition). I don't really hit the thrift stores any more, they always seemed like a waste of time. I got tired of digging through Herb Alpert, John Denver and Barbara Streisand lp's and rarely if ever finding anything good. I'm sure their are still the occasional score to be made but the odds aren't good. Plus I am fortunate that there are plenty of stores in the Denver area that have boatloads of quality used vinyl.

Just seen that .
What goes around comes around.
I had to replace my turntable but I still have my old records.
I never was a fan of CD sound.
Always preferred tape.

Hi Matt,
I can be of some help when it comes to turntables. Have experience mainly with good direct drives, some idler drives and a few good belt drives. Also arms/cartridge combos and phono stages. I build a fairly mean FET based MM stage that I intend to start selling in the near future. This means basically good give away price prototypes.
Cheers
