...for only $50

Only problem is it won't play.... fast forwards and rewinds fine. Capstan belt is good, wonder what else it could be?

Any ideas!

Thanks!

Edit: There is grease around one of the rubber belts inside the transport.... unfortuntaley the transport itself is VERY difficult to take apart. Is there a way to de-grease the wheels and belt without taking apart the transport?

Check the capstan motor wires (red and either white/black) for voltage. Should see about 12-18volts while it is supposed to be running. If no voltage, go back from there.

In any case, shoot all switches, contacts, etc, with deoxit as well to see if that is the cause.

Narrowed down the issue to the slipping belt. Motor shaft turnes fine when hitting play, but the belt just slides around the first gear responsible for engaging the heads/pinch rollers.

That's a very nice deck, I hope you get it up to running condition real soon.

Cool. I miss my old 909ES already. It was my favorite deck to use for some time.

4tified- if you need stock Sony belts for this deck- I have some. I was intending on using them for my deck till I decided against getting it repaired. PM me if you want to buy them.

Just missed you. I've ordered some off of eBay already. Hang on to them though in case these ones don't work. Thanks.

Wish I could have gotten a pic of transport, but the camera wouldn't flash in that small of an area.
