I just spent a glorious hour listening to prototype speakers. The DD, which can't be used since Dolby double-D is trademarked, was such a pleasure to listen to. Hi Emotion speakers are designed to elicit emotional responses to the listener, yet they break many of the 'rules' which have been a part of audio wisdom since the '60s.
One interesting statement by designer craig Oxford is that most tweeters today are easily driven into breakup mode, making those nasties we tape heads like to dispense of by taping our CDs. I wonder how one might measure this breakup? I certainly hear it.

Hey Tom, can you give a little more info on these baby's without getting into trouble? How about a pic of one or both :)

They sound intrigueing.....*hypnot*

I'm incredibly nosey, like what kind of load do they put on an amp? what material is the tweeter? crossover? what source did you audition them with? More, more, more, Please....

Pics! Pics! man, that's like hanging a strip of bacon in front of a bunch of dogs to speak like this and not give us pics and details! *yes*

Pictures would be a good idea. I'll ask. I may be getting a pair to keep for a while. I have been helping with ... well I guess so far I'm a 'yes man'...get these things to market, and may assemble some here in Nashville, but all that is a pipe dream (pun intended, since craig owns PipeDreams). There is a patent being filed as we speak, and after that event I am allowed to say more, but the discovery has been made that there are measureable biological responses during music listening. What happens when we hear good systems is our response comes from our limbic system, that part that reacts to emergencies like the instant adrennaline we feel when a car backfires. Craig then found ways to design full range speakers that stimulate the limbic (that sounds like a Van Morrison song).
My belief is that many good speaker designs in the past get pieces and parts of the 10 properties needed to do this trick, but the missing science was this link which explains why we "like" or "respond" or prefer these better stereos.
Gotta run. ask more questions.

so basically, you're saying that these are speakers that are intended by design to color the music in a manner that has been determined by research to produce good feelings in humans?

Wow! Craig's involved with this?? Cool! I'll repeat, " like what kind of load do they put on an amp? what material is the tweeter? crossover? what source did you audition them with?

Ask him if my Yamaha MX-800U would work well with it? Then PM me a price! I'm having 'pipedreams' *devil*

Sounds like we're entering Asimov's world of psycho-acoustics and how media that can stimulate emotion can then be used to shape that emotion. Cool! or not, depending on your "big brother" point of view. But very interesting. Need more info!

I assume the drivers in these things are not your basic whizzer-cone full-range knock-offs?
