Today I did something stupid. I traded a working Denon DR-M14HX for a non-working Teac V-400x. The owner said it didn't pick up well.

Turns out that the DbX was engaged, which caused that problem.

So now it works. What should I do with it? My refrence Akai GX912 sounds quite a bit better, so O really am at a loss to do with this deck. It's autoreverse, but the autoreverse is done pretty well, imho. It was also just gone over about 5 years ago by Alpha Tech, a local repir shop.

So what do I do with it? If I keep it, it will just sit, which I don't like....

How about a friend at school that's shown an interest in cassette taping? If not maybe offer it here and see if someone has a need for it. It's not a bad deck, you've been quite lucky lately with all that cool stuff ya just got. Do you miss the Denon already? Just my thoughts.....

That's a good idea. I'll ask around.

I have my TOTL akai to play and record with, and that's just fine for me. I also have a pioneer ct-f9191 in pieces (needs a clutch rebuild), and a Concept ELC, which has lots of unknown problems. I am still keeping my little Technics M224, cause it holds a bit of a speial meaning to me.

With those 4, I should be pretty happy, tape deck wise, for a long time....

The denon was my test deck, sitting in my basement, providing a source of sound for when I awas testing audio gear.

That's all I used it for, so I don't miss it, and I'd rather it be enjoyed than languish...
