Yesterday via a dance with UPS I received a dbx 200 Program Route Selector I purchased off the bay for $25+15 to ship so $40 total. I swear that the previous owner of this unit hardly used it at all. No scratches or any noticable wear. It even had that new 'sheen' on it:

This unit is going into my bedroom set-up where I currently have a Nak CR-5A, Teac 2300s and a Yamaha TC520 (used as a rewinding or FF deck mainly... soon to have another deck from my arsenal replace it). After dinner I turn some tunes on the main system in the living room and head to the bedroom to install the 200. I gather the needed cables and the unit and even the instruction book that was included with my purchase since these babies are not a typical connect scenario. As I go along I clean each unit that doesn't get done everyday and hook everything up looking at the instruction manual:

Hooking up the the 200 to the amp and tape decks are the usual.. so that's done. Then since I am hooking the 200 to a dbx 228... as you can see the back of the 228 is even pictured in the instructions... great! Yes? NO!! Nothing is correct*fit*... tape plays but no decoding...sounds bad*headache*... hmm.. nothing coming from the tuner when the deck is on source.. hmm*mad*. I check again*frown*.... but then I read the statement about Fig 2. It's the top-panel diagram which I am thinking I am looking at the back panel of the 200!! So the diagram is left to right.. where I am working it's right to left!! So I chuckle*grin*.. then chuck the instructions aside... redo the connections doing the in here out to there.. and viola... everything works!!*bananadance*
A moral to this story? *dunno* But I do know that now I have a 400XG in my main system to have three decks hooked up to one tape input and a 200 in the bedroom system to have three decks to select from there. Oh... the reason I choose a 200 for the bedroom is that it does the same exact function as the 400 but without the lights on the front panel to distract. And keep in mind... I still have one tape input on each system to expand to another Program Route Selector.. so I could have twelve decks hooked up and easily obtainable... six on each system!! *thumbsup* Thanks for reading my ramblings!! *grin*
