Hello,
Like most folks here I love the sound of open reel tape decks. I've collected a couple of Revox A77s, a single PR99, Crown CX824, Sony TC-850, Sony TC-666D, Teac X-10R, Ampex 351-2, Scully 280B, Stellavox SP7, Tandberg TD20A, Tandberg 64 and a Tapesonic deck.
I've had some luck repairing and modifying some of these and would be happy to help out, if I can.

Hello,
Thank you, one and all. I started getting interested in all things audio in the late 60's when I was stationed in Okinawa. I had a part time job working for the Sony Company, trading work for Sony products. I've been involved with audio equipment from then on. Any Sony TC-850 owners out there?

I have a Sony TC-580 reel to reel. it is fancy but overly complicated in design. It took me over a week to show that I can be smarter than the deck, but before that time it kind of outsmarted me. That ESP reverse is something else.
