Just thought I'd share this. It's an old insert card from a Maxell UD reel to reel tape from the early 70's. It's comical to read because the original Japanese it was no doubt originally written in was, in some parts so badly translated into English. Scan #5 is the one I find most amusing.

I'm sure that now this wouldn't happen again. But it's funny to read just the same. Any of you have some other examples of literature that contain botched translations?

*I'm not poking fun at the Japanese by any means. I'm simply saying this is funny to read. I'm sure that some folks over there have giggled at some things translated into Japanese from English.

It reminds me of how Japanese manuals/service literature was written back in the 1970s...less than perfect translations for sure. The big Japanese companies later cleaned up their act. HOWEVER, an exception: I have bought Stax products a few times over the last few years...they are a VERY small company by Japanese standards...and their translations sometimes show it!

Cheers in R2R land!
