The Luxman mysteriously worked this morning in playback mode, so in went the Maxell MX-S you sent me! review:
More there, more air, much cleaner sound*check*
I really likey, not all the music is my cup of tea but, anyway, absolute clean power corrupts, absolutely a couple of the Japanese ones I didn't care for before, really sucked me in:-)<-*hypnot*
Kinda funny, the parts deck should be here sometime today. Hopefully I'll be able to get into the tape swap game with ya'll soon*hope**reelspin*

wow! there really is THAT much of a difference between the new yammie amp and your old SAE?!?! one thing for sure, either the MA-XG, the CT-W600R, or both are really something else altogether! when i recorded NAJEE's cover of anita baker's "Sweet Love" on the long blank space at the end of SIDE A, the result was UNBELIEVABLE. i believe TRANSPARENT is the proper descriptor. i'll tell you, i never had the faintest idea that compact cassette could be so good!! the MX-S i sent you never even came close. it's quite clear why these sold at $20.00 per copy...

Well it floored the hell outta me as well, I heard huge diffs in everything LP and CD wise, I wasn't expecting much from the LUX, crap, now I have to get a Nak or a Tandberg, or my old SAE C-101*hope*
You know how many weeks I bid on stuff, thinking I was crazy to put so much money into just one part of the chain. You asked me to tell you what I thought, and *hypnot* by everything is well, too much fun. The SAE amp is getting a good cleaning up. And I hope to have it back together on my day off Wed. I'll build another system around it, and hopefully get lucky with the synergy i've gotten so far with the others. It's served me well for 20+yrs and it's not going anywhere, It's like an old friend.
I got the parts deck Lux on the porch tonight, yes, I brought it inside, I'll open it Wed. I hope it's just a belt thing*hope*. I also have a Yamaha CX-600U Pre-amp coming as we speak, another nice Karma piece. So expect my sig. to grow. Updates and pics and Q's soon.
