Hello folks,
One of my mates is getting rid of his hi-fi separates and he's offered me a Sony TC-K611S for £20. To my ears it sounds very good. It's a Dolby S, 3 header.
I just wondered if anybody had one or has any experience with one.

I had a TC-K711S which was a good deck. bought it for about 40 euros in Germany. I liked it because it was like new, was very silent, door opened and closed automatically. It had a lot of small features that made the deck very practical and confortable.
It sounded right, but was not a top of the line in sonic qualities. i sold it as I began looking to build a top of the line collection and this deck didn't fit in this intention.
20 pounds seems reasonable as long as it is in a very good optical and technical condition.

I have the tc-k511s. It is nothing special imo, but since I am a beginner in all of this, its is great. It's got dolby-s and it's easy to set up the calibration process. I really didn't think much about tape-decks until I heard what some can do... (the Aiwa kx-009 on Martin Logans sounded awesome). With manual calibration, dolby-s and a good type-2 tape you can make surprisingly good recordings.
BTW, I know this is an off-topic, but is there a way anyone can direct me to someone maybe who would be willing to fix a wm-dc2 walkman?
