I'm Jim Brown from Pacifica, CA. I am a computer consultant and audio gearhead. I am really into tubes and reels. I am a huge fan of classic audio pieces, especially tube stuff. On the tape side I have a fondness for the Revox RTR equipment. I was a manufacturers rep for many years for high end gear in the Northern CA area. I represented David Hafler, Acoustat, HK, Telarc, Mobile Fidelity, M&K, Ortofon, etc. I also worked for a classical music station in S.F. for 5 years and that's where I cut my teeth on the Studer-Revox gear. All our music and spots were done on RTR. I am hoping to learn, share , and maybe help others with like interests.
See ya out there.

Welcome to tapenuts F1jim. Looks like you have seen some impressive gear in your past. What are you running now?

I have modest stuff, mostly old, but they do the job. I have an old Revox A77 and B77 for RTR and I just sold my NAK 680ZX on the cassette side. I have a 682ZX still around but that's it for tape. I also have a wire recorded in a box with family recordings on it. In the past I've owned A99's and Nagra but my needs and tastes are pretty simple. It's a lot of work to keep the stuff up. The gear just seems to go to pieces when they don't get used much. Same with cars and houses! Thanks for the note

682ZX is not too shabby !!! I have mine running at the moment taping some Alan Parsons for fellow Tapenut Stuwee. If you go back through the posts there is a thread showing the running battle I've had getting this old Nak back into reliable working condition.

Thanks for the warm welcome. After a brief scan of the site it looks like I'm going to learn a lot from the members here. What a wonderful resource. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to take all the collected experience here and put it in a book? My guess is it would be a multiple volume set!
