I can't live without my SAE 1800 parametric EQ, I had the SAE E101 computer-direct-line one with the presets, very handy for playing certain tapes, jazz, poorly recorded whatever's, etc....
You guessed it, the E101 was part of the theft I had.
I prefer the para's over graphics (not knock'n them) because for me anyway, I have more control over the situation of how a piece of music was recorded and my speaker/room set up. YMMV. This is just a preference, I think it also has to do with how one's mind works ie: math over art. left or right brain function. I must look into this*hypnot*

I got one of these Behringers last year and the parametric EQ is what I use the most. It's not a cure all but....

Since I'm not a loud listener the variable loudness on my Yamaha's do me very well.

Never tried an EQ although I will admit to lusting over a Soundcraftsman back in the 70.s ,,i use my Sansui AU999 for a pre but basically leave everything flat with maybe a minor bass pump, I just let my Crown and my HPM100,s do what comes naturally

I have three that I've collected, as they're kinda like "sparklies" to a crow. But none of them are installed in my systems. Yet.

I have several EQ's. However I only use them for the spectrum display light shows. :)

as do i, for the most part. comes in handy when we watch a videotape with poor sound though; (a few of our old rcordings sound like CRAP.) i correct it best i can with the EQ. still, the primary attraction for me is the spectrum display. i currently have a mid 80's AKAI seven band, and i'm looking to ultimately step up to a 1988 PIONEER GR-777 ten band...
