Well my girlfriend managed to drag me out of the house to a rather raucous party in the middle of the woods, which turned out to be a bad scene and an unpleasant experience when a bunch of drunken geniuses began shooting the fireworks at each other, rather than up - and then when a very large wannabe gangster became extremely belligerent and started attacking people randomly and threatening to "stab" everyone. That's when we knew it was time to leave. I'm getting too old for this sort of nonsense, and also increasingly anti-social with age.*Spin*

So here's what rescued the day: First, on the way to the party I brought one of the tapes I recently made using a TDK SA-X to listen to in the car, since I recently realized that my girlfriend's car has a CD and cassette deck. Since I record with my Nak I was wondering if the tape wouldn't sound as good as it normally does, which is quite good - TDK SA-X is amazing. That's when I noticed that her cassette deck (which is stock) is a Nakamichi!!! I couldn't believe it, but she didn't really understand why I was so excited.

Needless to say we were a bit bummed out and traumatized on the way home. That's when I really turned up the volume and got to experience the glory of my tape, which did really sound very good. It calmed me down, and reminded just why I'm so enthusiastic about tapes now, and everything was all right. I wish I could pull that Nak out and put it in my car!

Just thought I'd share that.

Sounds good, well the tape part anyway. I like to steer clear of drunks and stabbing ones at that. *eyepop*

I don't know what ever happened to the day when people at parties used to be somewhat civil to each other. Sometimes the odd drunk gets into a fight, but most are there just to have a good time. Today its like people have a death warrant. I heard on the news a girl had a birthday party at her house and some extra people invited themselves to her party. She ended up getting shot by one of them. I really don't understand the violence with people today.

I don't understand it either, but my guess is it has a lot to do with being raised with your parents being the TV and your mother and one of them has no time to spend with you.

Trust me, I can't stand it either. I'm 27, and most of these people seemed to be in their early 20s or even late teens, so perhaps that accounts for a lot of their foolish behavior, but I just can't understand why people have to be mean and violent, it's so unnecessary.

I stopped going to parties in my late 20's also. I out grew the stupid stuff going on and lost motivation to go to parties after that.

That's a wonderful story and a sad commentary on today's society.

Glad nothing happened and your OK.

Dave.. have I mentioned that I lived in Manville NJ until I was 15 and came to Kansas with family in 1970? All I can say is I'm happy to be here.

Hey I didn't know you lived in Manville! I live in Flemington 20 minutes away! Now I understand why you're so happy you no longer live in NJ.

Mr. Lin,

I can understand your take on the "party" you attended. A few years back I went to a party given by a neighbor. I usually can find at least one person there with whom I can converse. This particular party found no one who wanted to talk music, audio, sports or anything with the exception of shooting small, fuzzy animals and beating up the wife. We soon made it home and none too soon!

I contrast that with yesterday's get together at our home. Cookout with family and friends, wireless speakers on the patio, next to the pool...great music and fine conversation, not to mention lots of good food. Talked audio, music, sports etc. A fine time was had by all!!!*Hi5*

Hey glad to see you joined!

From the start I knew there would be no discussing anything I'm interested in with any of these people, that's for sure. I don't have anything in common with people who are the party type, I prefer small groups of close friends with a good atmosphere, like you described above. I really wish I had more friends who were as "hardcore" about this hobby as I am, but luckily we have great sites like this where I can get it all out.

By the way, do any of you know how common it is for Nakamichis to be in cars?
