I was going to order a part from LP Gear and had a question about the part.
Sent an E-Mail about a week ago and still have not heard from them.
They do not have a phone # listed.
Any body have dealings with them?
Kinda' leary doing business with a company I can't contact.
In these lean times I would assume that a company would like to sell product.*scratchchin*

I've ordered hard-to-find Dual parts from them before. They had them, although I knew more than the guy who responded to my e-mail. I call it a "neutral" online experience.

graffias79, may or may not have gotten a bum stylus for his Stanton cart. see thread below in this section.

I've used them before. Don't expect much in the way of a reply.
Products are good, but they are a place your are buying from for good prices not good customer service. BTW- I don't think this is their primary business.

I will post later in the other thread about the 6800EEES stylus, it may be something totally else going on. I did, however, get a FANTASTIC deal on the ATS-12S Audio Technica stylus. A nude Shibata for my cartridge (which is basically an AT11) for $50. Needless (Needles?) to say I bought another as a spare. Still chewing on that Stanton though!
I have bought headshells from them for the Marantz, and they ran out of stock on one that I wanted so they upgraded me to their "audiophile" headshell free. This was in the middle of last year sometime.
As for communication, I did send them an email asking about tracking weight once, and my reply was just basically a one word answer. They did answer me quickly, though.

I was inquiring about a stylus for my AT 15Sa.
The picture showed what looked to be a generic replacement.
All I wanted to know was it a NOS or not.
I hate to gamble on unknowns.*hope*
I liked the cartridge when I bought it and want to use it again.
Thanks for your experiences.

The Audio Technica styli are genuine, but the Stanton isn't. I do believe AT still makes a lot of replacement styli in Japan and that is where they get them. I don't think Stanton still makes the "Stereohedron" anymore though.

I've bought a number of things from LP Gear - a few AT cartridges, some JICO styli for my Shure cartridges, and the occasional accessory. Good prices, fast shipping, no complaints. Once I sent them an e-mail about the source they use for their more expensive Shure replacements, and they responded within a day with accurate but brief information.
I don't think that this stylus:

is a generic replacement. It appears to be NOS, and the description says it is.

That is the one I was looking at.
The picture shows Universal lettering on the flip down stylus guard.
Thats what sent off a red flag to me.

It has to be made by or at least licensed by Audio Technica or they would get their pants sued off for using the logo. I wonder if AT started making that as a replacement for all of their cartridges that it fits onto? Each cartridge design that they made was sold under a LOT of different numbers.

Interesting!
OK - so two years ago I found an NOS AT14Sa cartridge in a local store, the seller wanted $69. I never really loved the sound of those AT cartridges (although I know many people liked them) so I sold it on eBay. It went for some ridiculous price - I think I more than doubled my investment.
It clearly said UNIVERSAL across the top of the box.
I don't have a photo anymore. But remember - these carts came out in the heyday of quad - and UNIVERSAL means "can be used with quad systems or two-channel systems." The Shibata stylus was intended to get the most information out of quad records.

I am a little cold on LPGear. They do have great prices and fast shipping. They also have a good inventory. But communication is very lacking. The first time I used them a few years ago, I sent an email concerning what cart I had on a new to me table. On their website they state to email them if you cannot figure out what cart you needed a stylus for. So I did. I never got a return email. So I just ordered a new cart. Got it fast. I ordered a few more things and always very fast. Then a couple of months ago I placed an order and did'nt get it. After 3 weeks and constatntly seeing the order was "processing" I emailed asking if they were out of stock on my order. They emailed back that afternoon saying they shipped it 3 weeks ago but that the address I gave them was different than the previous orders. I think, no way. I look at the invoice, and sure enough, I typed in 2225, when my Apt is 2226. They said that I needed to let them know if I could not get the order from my neighbor and they would replace the order. Well, I never got the order and after 4 emails, I have given up. Totally my fault don't get me wrong, but return my email at least to tell me "Sorry Charlie"

Thanks for that tidbit JXBJXB.
Thats good info to know.
I don't assume anything without facts.
And mine is all that is left of my Quad system.

Good stuff, good prices (they often have stuff that the "NeedleDoctor" doesn't have), but communication is definitely not their strong point. (I like the NeedleDoctor, too, though..._)
