Hey Phil,

Pioneer RT-909 & Teac X-1000R. Both very nice machines.

I have a few decks & other analog gear I've accumulated over the last few years. But, I'm in a serious financial situation at this time, so I haven't been able to take this where I want to be with it. None of them have been serviced & calibrated, except maybe one. I'm on this & other sites reading & collecting the info I need to do this myself. However, some of these decks are in very nice condition. I have the following machines:

Tascam MS-16 1" 16 track
Tascam TSR-8 1/2" 8 track
Tascam 38 1/2" 8 track

Teac A-3340
Teac A-3340S
Teac A-4010S (x2)
Teac A-2340SX
Teac A-2000R

Pioneer RT-707

Intermark Cypher IV (early 60's)
Crescent Model 907 (50's)

I usually use the A-3440 or A-3340S to play my few factory RTR tapes I have. I also have a load of multitrack cassette tapes I've made & have transferred some onto RTR & they sound bigger, wider, better.

I used the Pioneer 707 to transfer five old reels from the 60's on the no-name Emerald label onto cassette, just to save the content (personal family stuff). It came out OK & I didn't even bake them. Nor was there oxide all over the place which I expected. They just played like they hadn't been laying around in closets for the last forty years.

Been toying with the idea of recording my favorite 50's & 60's 45rpms, scratches & all, onto a few reels just for the hell of it. My very old school 'mix' tape, if you will. I mean, I'm 52, completely out of date & proud of it. CD's are convenient, but so what. Even though technology changes, as far as I'm concerned, all the lemmings can follow it down the black plastic digital junkdrain. I'll take the cool breeze from the big whooshing reels any day of the week. And if it means I have to learn to replace a few caps, adjust brakes, change belts & pinch rollers, remove & replace cards or do surgery, then so be it. At this point, the prospect is thrilling to me. *reelspin**reelspin**reelspin*

Thanks for making me feel at home. Some decks I used to have were the Tandberg TD20ASE and an Akai GX636. Cassette decks were a Kenwood (I can't remember the model number, must be having one of my senior moments) and a Tandberg 3014. I would post photos of what I have now but I haven't gone digital yet so please stay tuned.*reelspin*
