Maybe this should have been in the Gallery section. I just wanted to show off how obsessive compulsive I am. Most of us will see ourselves here.
To me the Nakamichi 700 is one of the finest early generation decks made and quite a looker too. Simple and elegant to look at but with the capabilities to record with the best of them.
Shown is the original shipping box, the original deck box, the 700 series one, Tri Tracer wired remote with original box and packing, 700 brochure, original manual, Nakamichi Live Recording System handbook, Nakamichi peripheral equipment brochure and the Stereo Review 1973 review reprint.
I still use this occasionally with great results.

Are you saying OCD is a bad thing? Hoo boy, then I sure better go get treated. *yes*

Nice looking deck and stack of original boxes and gear. About as complete a single-item collection as you can get. *thumbsup*

Cool, always fun to have gear with all the original documentation and packing material.

You took it all Outside *whipslap* ! It could snow again! Take your lash's boy! *grin*! That's no way to treat a Nak Shrine.

Don't listen to stuwee. That old weathered deck gives it some extra character. *Hi5*

I have a friend who sells high end speakers. I told him to include lots of bags for accessories and booklets and such. I love anything that comes with a cleaning cloth! It is like Christmas opening and exploring all the extras.

Very NiCE. The 700 tri is bee-utiful. Having the complete collection of accessories makes it that much worth while. When I run out of decks on my wish list, or while I'm looking for them I'm going to try to complete some of my Naks as well. Having that extra bit of history is great.

*hypnot*Make that 3 rooms at the OCD asylum.

Those guys from Nakamichi were pretty advanced for that time

I see there was also a 700 II.

Interesting. The first use of ferrite heads was the 700's erase head. They abandoned it in the 700 II for being temperature unstable!
700II used an optical capstan servo...I had forgotten that. Note the 700 play head was 0.7 micron, but the 700 II was 0.9 micron gap. Wonder why?
The 0.05% W/F spec is below the test tape residual, and on par with the Dragon/ZX9. I miss big flywheels!

Something about the looks of a 700 leaves me cold ,,maybe because it doesn,t have as nice as a VU as the 600 or 1000 series but that being said I certanly would not turn one down if offered

That's a real he-man's deck...all serious. No sissified bells and whistles on that beast! Enjoy.
