hello, all! BRAXUS was kind enough to invite my weird scary ass to this great little site, so here i am! of course, im quite a tape head myself; with about 200-odd in my collection. my ultimate tape oriented goal is to aquire a PIONEER CT-91/91a and some TDK MA-XGs for it. a lofty goal, to be sure, but i have faith that my chance will come...

Welcome! Thanks for joining. Braxus has been doing an outstanding job for me recruiting and promoting the site on certain sites that saw it best to employ their bouncers on me.

As for being 'wierd and scary', don't worry. I'm pretty sure all of us (myself included) have a screw or two loose because of our hobbies. In other words, you fit right in.

As for having Faith, do not despair. All of us have some sort of wish list. Mine is to be able to make a lane change on the freeway without running over those little bumps (this aspiration also further underscores the degree of mental instability that is harbored within the confines of my cranium).

I'm also hoping to someday find.....I don't know. It's certainly not a virgin in a nightclub. Because THAT sure as heck ain't going to happen. Besides, being kind of married (I know....being 'kind of' married is a lot like being 'sort of' pregnant), basically means I will not have the reason or opportunity to embark on the aforementioned quest anyhow. I have everything I want. Which is why I now found myself with enough time on my hands to run this site.

Maybe if I could get my hands on some more Maxell XLI or XLI-S cassettes (despite already having tons of them), then I'd be a happy camper.

Welcome and have fun!

I like this "Pioneer Princess" title. I only have a CT-S530 but in a great condition.

Talk about hitting the ground running - a new member and so many posts, no lurking in the shadows for you then.

Regards, Stuart

Hiya from a former Pioneer Nut and still a big fan of them. A CT-93 would be a very nice find for me but, too many decks already at the moment.

:pHi Lady Ayeka,

Good to see another lady here. My hope is to someday find a stash of In Sync Laboratories Cassettes from the wonderful Elite recordings engineered by Marc Aubort and Johanna Nickrentz these were released on Vox and licensed to In Sync they were all orchestra and there were about 50 of them. All were recorded in "real time" on Nakamichi 582 decks on TDK SA-X tapes. I had about 20 or so before I made the dumb move and sold my Nakamichi 481 cassette deck and all my tapes to raise the money to purchase the Sony CDP-101 so I could have "perfect sound forever". Well it was the worst mistake of my life and the CDP-101 was the worst sounding component I have ever owned. And it was the last time I believed advertising.

My current cassette deck is a mint Nakamichi CR-1A I got for $39.00 at the Salvation Army. I adjusted the playback azimuth and it's been a wonderful deck for both playback and recording.

I am always on the lookout for reasonably priced audiophile cassettes: Audible Illusions, Sound Ideas, Advent Process CR/70, Nakamichi Reference, MFSL, etc.

Someday if I live long enough I'll walk into a thrift store and see rows and rows of In Sync Labs and Advent Process CR/70 cassettes. So far I have found five audiophile cassettes at the thrifts. Most of my collection is commercial "major label" cassettes which sound excellent on my Nakamichi.

I've never tried a Pioneer cassette deck, although at one time I had a Pioneer RT-707 reel to reel that I thought sounded really good. *reelspin*

Wonder of wonders, I found ten of them at a Goodwill a few years ago. The version of The Planets I had was so good and so quiet that I was literally moved to tears by the performance.
