New find for my collection. I think this was what preceded the TDK SA-90. But what puzzles me is , where does the TDK SA-C90 come into play?

i think the kr is chromium dioxide, and the sa is a chromium doped ferric particle.

apparently the reason for the change was to circumvent licensing fees from dupont.

the only problem with the Cr02 setting is the eq, which they tried to fix with type 3 tapes. unfortunately type 3 tapes were also dual layer, apparently with two different formulations. sadly older dual layer suffered from one layer coming off slightly while leaving the other in tact, which had the potential of sounding muddy, which kills dolby tracking.

it would have been nice if they had simplified the standard to a single layer before introducing the standard.
