The Doobie Bros. lp I picked up yesterday had a Last sticker on the label. At first I thought somebody put a name tag on it and was going to try to peel it off. Then it clicked that I had read about Last in Stereophile magazine a while back. There seems there was some controversy about the stuff. I had never heard of it before and this is the only record I have that has the sticker on it. The record sounds fantastic. The vinyl surface does seems quieter than the other Nautilus Half-Speed master lp I bought (J. Geils Band-"Love Stinks"). Anybody here have any thoughts on last?

I haven't used Last but I did use a similar treatment on vinyl many years ago. It seemed to work well, held up over the years, and (to my ears) contributed to an enjoyable playback more than any detractors. Issues like this rage back and forth in golden-eared discussions but you can take that for what it's worth....about the cost of postage for the magazine it's all printed in.
ETA: Sound Guard, that was it.... thank Rob!

I used the other record preservative/static surface suppressor stuff,Sound Guard. It actually worked quite well, records that I treated back in the late 70's still have little or no dust on/attracted to them, and the surface noise level sounds like the first day I bought the record home and put it on the platter.I wish I had more of this treatment around in it's spray applicator bottle,I would treat all my records, after seeing and hearing what it has done for my records to this date,it was a great product. Not to be terribly commercial, but I have an offer that is sorta like buying vintage wine from the 19th century...
I have a large, sealed bottle of LAST, the dispensing pump, about 50 applicators, and a bag of stickers that no longer stick. This stuff was from the estate of a friend. I don't know how stable the LAST fluid is. It is in a sealed glass bottle encased in styrofoam. The whole shebang is $25 plus postage. If it ruins your records, it might be good to drink! PM me.
