Hello fellow tapers. It's that time of week again to fill you in on what's going on with the site. I have made two changes that are noteworthy.

First are the SMILIES. Several of you had asked for them. The basic site package came with only about a dozen or so. I added many and brought up the total number available to around. 80. That should be enough to keep you post-happy for awhile.

Second is SITE ACCESS. Originally, I had a blanket-block in place. But then it occured to me that it could be somewhat counterproductive. So I lifted some of that restriction. Unregistered guests can now see ONLY the "Meet And Greet" and "Marketplace" forums. They can SEE them but cannot PARTICPATE in them. More to the point; if a guest logs onto TapeHeads.Net, their options will be limited to just those two forums. They will not know that the others are there until they read these bulletins and/or register. I figured those two would make the most sense so that way prospective users can browse the introductions to get a feel on what the site is about. However, they are still blind to all other sections (cassette, gallery, etc.) and will need to register/login if they wish to peruse the site any further.

I also opened up the "Marketplace" forum. I did that so in case any of you want to advertise something for sale and post the link elsewhere to here, others can see it. That forum exists as a place to post 'for sale' classifieds at no charge.

Which leads me to my final point: Redundant posts.

I see many of the topics and questions posted here also posted in other forums. While I understand the rationale behind it (maximum exposure and participation), it still in a way saddens me. The whole purpose of TapeHeads was to create a single site where all fans of tape can coalesce and discuss our passions. Perpetuating fragmented discussion like that makes it all that much harder to do. I would like to think that anyone who is a true 'tapehead' and loyal to this site and share my passion for its eventual growth would limit posting the same topics across multiple sites to a minimum. Or at least help by providing a redirect to TapeHeads. I'm not asking or telling any of you to 'jump ship' from other sites; I know many of you enjoy the topics that I am not after here-such as in depth vinyil or McIntosh amps. But the tape stuff? I would love to keep as much of it here as possible. So while I "aint cho daddy" and can't tell any of you were you can and cannot post, ultimately trying to hub all matters tape into one site will ultimately be beneficial to all of us here. And if you see a non-TH'er somewhere talking tape? Tell him to come check us out here.

That's just something weighing on my mind. Take it however you want.

I guess that's about it for now. Stay safe. Stay cool. And keep the tape rolling.

I was not singling out yours (or anyone for that matter). I've seen a lot of it from many users. Now let me clear the air right now lest some ill will transpire later on. I am not issuing a "Post here only or else" type of ultimatum. That's not at all what I'm saying or even implying. As I've preached about the creeps at AK, what happens on another site stays there. Each site is a sort of 'sovereign nation' and can do as it pleases (even if, as in the case of AK, it's blatant chickenshit and utter BS). Ditto for it's "citizens".

I'm simply saying that for all of you who love tape and want to see TapeHeads grow, keep those topics in one place as much as possible. Fellow TH'er Braxus has [brazenly no less] advertised TH over on AK. He's still there. So Des would be greatly appreciative of anyone who might be inclined to do likewise when they see a tape related topic posted there (or elsewhere) to come check out TH for more information.
