Nice TDK surprise

Well I figured 20 bucks for a box of 50 wasn't a bad deal, so I bit on these TDK Professional Master Series tapes. Normal bias and all

And.. wow... they sound pretty good. Only downside is no cases or J cards, but heck... really sweet. Anyone have any good info on these puppys? I wonder what's really inside, because it sounds damn good.

A picture would help us know for sure which ones you're talking about. The type I TDK studio tapes I have are called AM, for acoustic master, and yes, they're awesome.

Very smooth response, and surprising on the high end for a normal formulation.

The box says ZM-90 on the side, so I checked them out. Here's a good description of them here. Definitely a good deal in my opinion - Beats the pants off of the stock XLII's still out there and is hard to tell any difference with the TDK SM's.
