I'm a roadie, bicycling that is. Ride as much as the family allows these day and have pounded pedals in various places in the world Oregon, Washington, Germany.

I've been riding a Sofride solo for the past 13 years. I built it w/ Dura Ace Grupo- Spinergy RevX wheels - Tufo rubber.

I've been thinking of a new ride lately I really want a custom built steel frame and I'm considering.

Land Shark
Steelman
RICHARD SACHS

Just trying to talk my wife into it another $4-5k into more bike gear, she aint bitting, used to easier before kids.

back in the day schwinn made some decent stuff, I was just working on an old Peugot for a friend last week.

I've put about $300 into it, to get it rideable again, and almost everything that can be replaced has been....except the wheels, frame, handlebar and gears....I also got cork padding on the handlebars because they were just electrical tape-like stuff over the bare steel.....a very uncomfortable ride....

now it's GREAT, and I try to ride it 5 miles a day to the bus and back so I can go to summer school and get stronger....but that has not happened of late too much because I cannot get myself up (;

best bike I've ver ridden and IDK how most people need more than 10 speeds anyways.....

That's great your keeping it alive.

Cork is a big help.

other cheap thinks to help.

bike gloves
true your wheels
get some tires that you can inflate to 120-140 psi, that will really cut down on the rolling friction. If you really want to go nuts get some Tufo road elite's and pump 'em to 200 psi, if your ass can deal w/ pain*?conf?

How do I tue my wheels?

and the front tire is solid rubber, the back I keep inflated to about 80.....and the wheels are an older style, and I've put some serious elbow grease into makin them SHINE again (mother left it out in the weather for 5 or more years*fit*). The bike shop had to order in a special tire for the back rim....

Rolling friction makes a BIG difference when you are 300 pounds like I am. Yes!

It is great you guys can ride. I'd like to try it again but my knees don't much like biking anymore so I probably just stick with walking.

Keep riding that bike!!! I know where your're comin' from I used to be in the 300 class as well then got into skiing, running and biking. dropped to the 140's and then developed a "problem" w/ being hooked on running, not eating, bla, bla, bla.

Quit cold turkey for a while to regain sanity and now range in the 160 -175 catagory.

weird tires what size are they and I'll look around.

Web- if your knees hurt consider bringing in your bike to a real bike shop and it adjusted fitted to you. will help w/ your knees!

Riding my bike is the ONLY form of exercise that I enjoy, or will do whatsoever. Yes!

i've never been athletic, nor have I ever been very skinny...but I always LOVED to ride, even from a young age.

Doug it isn't that easy as I don't own a bike at the moment. I hurt my knees about 15 years ago playing volleyball and they have never quite been the same. I can walk without difficulty or pain but anything that is very repetitive or puts more pressure than that is bound to aggravate them over the long term. I have built up the strength in them but one has more play and range than the other.

I have a dog that I do a lot of walking with, but someday I will get a bike and get back into biking. :)

I never really enjoyed most organized sports; hate football, baseball, hoops, golf etc couldn't tell you the players unless in the news from steroids

I'm involved (or have been) or watch rugby, most snow sports, motorcycle, hunting/shooting.

I got into riding when my HS started a bike club, been doing it ever since. I get to clear my mind as well since I ride mostly alone. I try to do 10 mi per day and on weekends 30 - 60 depending what's going on.

Web; sorry thought you still had a bike.
