cant believe I havent searched this site out myself, but heard about it from another audio page I am subscribe to. Lately, I have this addition of buying alot of tapes, and my hang up is, do I get TDK's or Maxell's. So, I kind of have been buying alittle of both. I started with TDK SA-C90(green), then TDK SA-C90(brown), then a pause to the TDK SA-90 (for CD's). I recently bought a newer production of TDK SA-90's, and they dont use the "screws" in the cassette case . I am using a Pioneer CT-F1000, Onkyo TA-2058, and Nak BX-300. So far, my collection consists of ::
TDK SA-C90(green and brown)
TDK SA-90 CD's
TDK SA-X90 CD's
TDK SA-X100 CD's
Maxell UDXL-II
Maxell XLII CD's
Maxell MX
hope to meet and chat with all

Howdy y'all! Thanks for joining. Nice selection you have there.
So you're from [west] Texas eh?
I've been to Texas. But just once-to Dallas and vicinity (venturing as far as Ft Worth and Denton). And on that one trip I learned something. They take steak and barbecue very, VERY seriously in Texas. I LOVE barbecue too. But tell me. Have you ever been to the "Big Texan" in Amarillo? Some folks I talked to say it is a MUST visit place before you die if you are a steak lover. And others have said it's nothing but a gaudy, cheesy tourist trap-kind of like Las Vegas and Disneyland.
So please. Enlighten a Cal-ee-forn-ian who loves steak the truth on the matter.

Howdy back atcha
First, let me tell you, I was born "in the usa", lol, rice lake wisconsin.
My dad was military.
Alabama, florida, Illinois, Germany
I was military
California, Minnesota, Oregon
then the oil boom-Texas
I have heard of the establishment, but never have been there. there is this steak you can order (very large) and if you can finish it, it is free-this is what I have heard. Also, I enjoy BBq, but not that much of a fanatic of sort.
Say, I really really really like your Maxell collection. Enlighten me some on the difference between max and tdk. Pm me if you would like.

Yes. We will all look forward to seeing your tape collection. I'm glad you liked the Maxell collection. Man was that post a lot of work! If it's being enjoyed, then I know it was worth it. It took me several days to prepare that post between the pictures and the narratives.
As for explaining differences between the two brands, that's not really something I can neatly sum up in a paragraph or two. There are few topics more rancorous and a cause of contention in these circles than the old "Maxell versus TDK" debate. If you would like my OPINION on comparing a few individual tapes, I'll be glad to chime in my *twocents*. But apart from that, there just isn't an easy (or final) way to do a summation on the two names.

Nice to have another new member, hope to see you around here often. And Des-Lab, I also really enjoy the heck out of your Maxell Tape Collection thread, especially since I'm relatively new to all this, it gave me a basic idea of all the changes Maxell went through over the years.
