I'm pretty lucky I guess *flame*
My Poor baby is sick.. my Marantz 6200.. the anti skate is not working properly on it. I just noticed it this last Sunday. I am not sure how long it has been going on. I hope I haven't caused undue wear on my stylus. *confused*
Well last night at the consignment shop, I was perusing the back where they keep the electrical toys, and what do I see lurking out from behind a large tasteless slab of faux fur? The corner of this baby:

Works perfectly except the green light that shows 33 RPM seems to be out.
My day has been saved! *punk*

Sweet. It's a nice to go from the low to the high in a short time. Must be sun-shining in your area.

Always nice to find a decent buy on new to you equipment. :)
Looks like a nice tt.

Thanks.. actually it is very cold and rain/sleet/snowing here *frown*
This is a Philips 212 from 1975. Everything works nicely on it, its suspension system is great, it is extremely bouncy. I spent most of last night dialing in my cartridge and of course listening to it. *headtunes*

WooHoo! The tapes you made me on the Marantz sounded great to my ears, so I don't think you damaged anything, LP's are pretty resillent to damage as well, have the stylus look at, I take mine to a local jeweler.
And who are you fooling Jamie, bein' the '70s TT sucker that you are, you would've bought that gem anyway *naughty*! That's a very interesting arm design with the decoupler in the center, and the dust cover looks as mint as the rest of it!!
I'm not familiar with your Marantz arm, did something fall off/break? I use NIN "Closer" on LP to fine tune anti-skating on my SME, one side of the LP is smooth, do you have one like that?

Hmm You are probably right about buying it anyway, but I at least had a "legitimate" reason this time *devil*
I am glad you liked the tapes. I believe I recorded that Breathe 12" pictured above for you as well.
I may just have the stylus looked at.. I will be getting my Shibata diamond for for Christmas for my Audio Technica cartridge I picked up a while back anyway. *hope*
I have a Duran Duran 12" of Is There Something I Should Know that has a HUGE lead-out groove (Probably about 9" in diameter) that I use for that. I also have a 7" promo of Close Encounters of the Third Kind that is smooth on side 2.
As for the arm, here is the problem.. as you can see in the picture here, the knob out on the ledge is for anti skating..

I am illustrating here that it is not easily accessible as it is a suspended piece that doesn't connect to the base.

So until I feel exploratory and brave I will not mess with the Marantz. It will be fine sitting for a little while. The only thing that upsets me is that I can't use my headshells anymore *crying*
And since I had my camera out and ready to go, I snapped a gratuitous picture of my two walkmen (walker-men by now) sitting on my shelf.

Great score on the Philips turntable. That's a brand that I've always admired but never see around these parts.

Very nice unit you got there. My parents bought a full Philips system, that included that very same TT, around 1976.
I have very fond memories of it, except for the fact that I found the suspension just a wee bit too bouncy.
The TT along with the rest of the system was burgled in 1978 when my parentīs home was broken into...*crying*

Nice table! Coincidentally, someone posted information about replacing the green LED's recently on AA, in case you're interested:

I concur regarding the bouncy nature of the table. It can be distracting, especially when trying to use my brushes! *hypnot*
It is very good suspension though, it does better than any other table I have ever had at isolating noise!
Flyquail56: Thanks for the tip! I downloaded the service manual for this from VE and it seems more complicated than I am used to in a turntable, so I am not sure I want to open it up yet! Sometime I would love to get the 33 RPM lamp fixed, though.
